Scientist Premiere New Video "Magick Mirror"

Chicago's favorite avant metal alchemists SCIENTIST released the brain-contorting wares of their complex yet compelling Barbelith full-length earlier this month.

Today, they debut the visual accompaniment to Barbelith track "Magick Mirror" noting, "'Magick Mirror' is perhaps the greatest example of what SCIENTIST accomplishes as a band and what Barbelith represents musically. The song is brimming with the creative incorporation of melody, dirty riffs, somewhat bluesy leads, light black metal musicality, and the integration of a progressive twist... some of the most creative elements of songwriting SCIENTIST practice...are to be found on the track..."

Scientist Streaming "Physician Heal Thyself"

With the release of the confounding "10100II00101" inching ever closer to its final descent, today Chicago-based architectural metal exhibitionists Scientist unveil "Physician Heal Thyself," featuring guest vocals by The Atlas Moth's Stavros Giannopoulos.

"Stavros recorded his vocals at home and turned them in on the deadline date," recalls Scientist's founding guitarist/vocalist Eric Plonka (ex Yakuza). "True to form, we didn't hear his parts until the CD was finished! It's one of our more cryptic undertakings with fuzz jutted guitars, crunchy bass and interestingly strange drum patterns. It's built around the concept of this: before attempting to correct others, make sure that you aren't guilty of the same faults."

Scientist Releasing New Album

Chicago-based experimental metal faction Scientist, which features within its eclectic ranks guitarist, vocalist and founder Eric Plonka (Yakuza), guitarist/vocalist Patrick Auclair (Yakuza, Taken By The Sun), drummer Justin Cape (Taken By The Sun), and bassist Matthew Milligan (Making Ghosts), will unleash a new full-length next month.

Titled "10100II00101," the eleven track follow-up to Scientist's self-titled debut was captured at Minbal Studio, engineered by Sanford Parker (Minsk, Corrections House, Buried At Sea), mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room and features guest vocal appearances by Stavros Giannopoulos of The Atlas Moth, Andre Almarez of Pale Horseman, Anthony Cwan of Without Waves and James Clayton Bowman as well as a lap slide guitar appearance by Jeff Lyman of Dance Bullies.
