Unearth At The Subterranean
I took the Metra to the CTA Blue Line since I didn't want to pay for both gas and city parking. Besides, mass transit probably caused more damage to my hearing over the years that heavy metal ever did. On the way down to the city, the train conductor asked if I was in high school as he was offering student discounts and I looked like I could be a teenager. I'm 28. That's the downside of shaving my beard off every spring and staying clean shaven all the way through the summer until late autumn. With it, I look 16. Without it I look 45. I simply cannot win.
The venue is located in Wicker Park, which is the Hipster capital of Chicago thanks in no small part to the Subterranean being located right next to the Double Door. If there was any further proof that the hipster generation is a bunch of aging fossils, the Subterranean had a flier for an upcoming nu metal DJ night with a picture of Fred Durst. When your generation is old enough to get nostalgic and start looking backwards instead of to the future, they're officially as pathetic as retired hippies still pining away for the 60s. More...

The presence of these injustices and inequalities have always existed, but we believe they need to be brought to the forefront of discussion and ultimately changed.
"These topics include, but are not limited to, cultural decline, racism, child predators, domestic violence, drug & alcohol abuse, and the impact of war on the human mind. The evils of the world and the lack of compassion between human beings and their own kind. Culture Killer Shows The "Path Of Reflection"
Florida's Culture Killer is streaming the new track "Path of Reflection." The song appears on the debut release "Throes Of Mankind," which is set for release on November 27th worldwide via Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders are available at this location.
"Throes of Mankind" was engineered by Austin Coupe and Kenny Gil at Pig Pen Recordings, mixed by Kenny Gil, and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. Culture Killer described the tracking process as "the smoothest, most fun process we have ever experienced." Guitarist/vocalist Hunter Young added that "Kenny and Austin are old friends of ours, so honestly it was just an all around amazing experience."
The Culture Killer lineup is rounded out by vocalist Ian Campbell, guitarist Trevor Kopp, bassist Collin Townsend, and drummer Dylan Blow. The band delivers pummeling metallic hardcore with violent, malevolent fervor. Musically, and lyrically, the band can simply be described as disgruntled and malevolent. The band would argue this is warrented given the current state of the world. Hunter Young explains: "The album hits on specific topics that the world is currently, and has been battling. Such as: racism, human trafficking, pedophilia in the pulpit, addiction, and the digital age ruining real human communication."
Culture Killer is the platform the members use to discuss topics they deem to be important. Not merely important, but topics they feel should be under discussion. They feel ultimately that "using the band to do anything other than talk about the evils and tragedies in the world would be doing an injustice to the listener and to ourselves."
The track list for the album is:
1. Blindfolded Death
2. Path of Reflection
3. Exterminate Filth
4. Cloaked in Deceit
5. Throes
6. Justice Through Retaliation (song streaming here)
7. (Sub)Stance

Culture Killer Streaming New Track
Florida's Culture Killer is streaming the new track "Justice Through Retaliation." The song is the title track of the upcoming debut release via Metal Blade Records. More details on the album - which is expected for release later this year - is forthcoming.
Culture Killer's music and lyrics make it apparent that this band has a goal and message, and that this isn't directionless rage. Drummer Dylan Blow commented on the title track: "The song tells the story of a woman fighting a seemingly endless battle with spousal abuse. She reflects on the words and feelings that she once embraced; soon realizing that the man she loved was now her greatest fear. At the turning point of the song, she finds that her only chance of survival is to kill him.
"Domestic violence is an extremely disturbing and reoccurring reality. Sadly, many stories remain untold. Don't be afraid to speak up, don't be afraid to reach out for help, and most importantly, don't ever feel ashamed to tell your story."
