Decimate Metal Festival Announces First Bands
Western Canada's Decimate Metal Fest is proud to announce its 2022 lineup for its two-day open-air extreme live music event being hosted on June 24th and 25th in High River, AB (45 minutes south of Calgary) on the outdoor grounds of the High River Brewing Company.
The 3rd edition of Decimate Metal Fest presented by Voxx Entertainment will witness the brute force of headliners Regina, SK loud shockers Planet Eater, and Fort McMurray, Alberta's metalcore titans Arrival of Autumn lead the way for over 20+ acts of both local and traveling youth and adult musicians and bands performing this year. (full line up listed below with more to be announced). The 2022 festival will also be an all-ages event.
Planet Eater has been a staple source of extreme loud blasting from barren prairies, spreading their influence into Western Canada and beyond. The sound of Planet Eater is as unique as it is familiar, blending thrash and death metal with crushing grooves and devastating vocals. Fans who have yet to see them will be captivated by their live spectacle and the uncontrollable urges to eternally headbang.
Arrival of Autumn performs in support of their latest album "Harbringer" released in 2019 via Nuclear Blast. The band is a guitar-driven riff-heavy machine with fast double kick and vocal hooks to leave you humming our songs all day. Although they play fast they aren't afraid to slow it down with beautiful atmospheric passages to add a much-needed dynamic that is missing from a lot of music today. Decimate Metalfest Reveals Full Lineup
Calgary's Decimate Metal Festival returns for its second year with its biggest line up to date. Welcoming acts from across Canada, this year's headliners announced are Into Eternity, Hammerdrone, Quietus, Planet Eater, Centuries of Decay (2018 Wacken Metal Canada Champions) among many more on the 20 plus band event being hosted for three days from July 5th to 7th at the County Line Saloon (full day line ups listed below).
Festival organizer Sloan Voxx comments:
"After the bands obliterated the stage last year, we are beyond excited to be able to resuscitate Decimate Metalfest for year 2! This year not only did we want to showcase well-known favorites, and spice things up with sultry Burlesque dancers, but also bring to view many acts our city has never seen. If that isn't enough, the cherry on top is incorporating an All-Ages component to the festival and being able to feature musicians under the age of 18! We are truly inspired by the growing musical minds of the next generation and of our future and are so happy to be able to include them in this year's festival! Regina, SK titans of brutality from Planet Eater return from the flat lands of Western Canada's prairies to offer first full-length album "Blackness From The Stars" this coming August 4th.
Today the band drops new crusher "Cold Confines," which can be heard below, and the band comments: "'Cold Confines' speaks to the imperfection of the human machine and the self-destructive nature of one's self.
"There is a separation of the body and mind and a simple beauty in decay. Musically, Cold Confines exemplifies Planet Eater's evolution, melding melody with a percussive mayhem casting the song itself into a dark and menacing tone."

The Shredmonton Metal Festival and Conference is set to take place from May 6th - 8th, with the lineup for the 6th and 7th revealed today.
This fest features over 20 bands during the course of 3 days at The Starlite Room and The Brixx Bar and Grill (same building), as well as a multi-room industry based conference located at the Shaw Conference Center.
