Ruby The Hatchet Finishes Recording Album

Philly heavy psych quintet Ruby The Hatchet has completed work on a new album. The as-yet-untitled album is slated for a spring 2017 release via Tee Pee Records.

The bewitching rock troop featuring vocalist Jillian Taylor, guitarist Johnny Scarps, bassist Lake Muir, drummer Owen Stewart and organist Sean Hur, recorded this album in an 1800's era estate deep in the Pennsylvania woods with engineers Joe Boldizar (Retro City Studios) and Zach Goldstein (Kawari Sound).

"Setting up shop and recording ourselves in an 1800's era estate has been a pleasure and a labor," comments Taylor. "We built the studio in house from the ground up – mostly Sean (organ), with help from our friends at Kawari Sound and Retro City Studios. From homemade preamps to third floor room mics hidden in echo chambers, the tones on this album are truly vintage. Putting ourselves into seclusion provided a process that influenced the album's sound, allowing us to create our own pocket of deep space rock inside of a time warp where everything else stopped - politics, personal shit, the day-to-day worries that tarnish the soul…all gone. This album is like nothing we have ever made before."

More details on Ruby The Hatchet's upcoming album will be released soon. For now, the band will launch a U.S. tour alongside labelmates Earthless on December 2nd in Chicago, IL. Dates are as follows: More...

“It has been a long time coming and we are beyond excited that after four years our first album is getting a proper vinyl pressing," comments vocalist Jillian Taylor. "'Ouroboros\ holds a lot of nostalgia for us and is a fan favorite. Ruby The Hatchet Releasing New Album

The Philadelphia psychedelic doombringers from Ruby The Hatchet will release new album, "Valley of the Snake," on February 24th via Tee Pee Records.

The new LP was recorded at Retro City Studios in Germantown, PA, and the following press release was issued about the coming juggernaut:

"Ruby The Hatchet's music fuses the sinister tactic of brainwash with blistering riffs and the rebellious mood of sorcery, re-imagining a different path for metal. Evoking a decade's worth of maturity gained in just a few short years, the genesis from the band's 2011 self-titled EP to present day has been nothing short of stunning.

"Valley of the Snake is a six song journey; a fantastical trek with huge, blistering tracks that journey over peaks and valleys and ditches and oceans before leaving you spinning. Seething and spitting, Ruby The Hatchet hammers behemoth waves of dogma and doom, merging precision and patience with a sinister foot-stomping, head-bobbing power. Vocalist Jillian Taylor's serpentine vocals, scene-stealing howls and macabre lyrics conjure holistic atmospheres over swollen grooves that grow and flow in circles and waves. Guitars crunch, wail and burn.

"Heavy-handed and hypnotic in equal parts, Ruby The Hatchet creates the perfect shape shift between psych density and metal grandiosity, representing something utterly imposing; primeval and oppressively heavy while maintaining a level of breathless intensity over the course of the full album. This hex is for you."

The track listing is as follows:

1. Heavy Blanket
2. Vast Acid
3. Tomorrow Never Comes
4. Unholy Behemoth
5. Demons
6. Valley of the Snake More...
