Meatwound Has The "Reproductive Blues"
As Meatwound preps infectious second LP, "Largo," for release through Magic Bullet Records in the coming weeks, today a stream of the gnarled "Reproductive Blues" track comes online.
Meatwound's Daniel Shook offers: "Fundamentalists and politicians don't like abortions. They also don't like birth control or sex education. If you honestly want to stop abortions, those things are proven to reduce abortions more effectively than prayer or highway billboards. It's almost like they want to keep the world stepping over endless unwanted babies.
"Round about twenty-three years ago, Initial State made an LP and the song 'Feast' has stuck with me ever since. The first line: 'You would bring another into the vile machine/One more mouth among the billions to hang agape in need'... I think it was the first song I heard that was specifically about overpopulation." More...
Meatwound Announces New Album
Magic Bullet Records today confirms the impending May release of "Largo," the pummeling new full-length album by Tampa, Florida's corrosive quartet Meatwound, in addition to issuing a trailer and more info on the LP.
After a successful run in support of the "Addio" debut, Meatwound returns with seven more songs of ungodly sonic devastation under the title "Largo." While a lot of the scuzzy, surging groove of the debut album can be found intact on this release, the band has pressed down on the accelerator a bit, resulting in faster and more violent-sounding tracks this time around.
The aural attack was once again captured by Dan Byers at Rock Garden Studio, just south of Largo, Florida, with mastering by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound. As with the debut, the visuals have once again been executed by former Florida Man Chris Norris, aka Steak Mtn.

Meatwound is a band comprised of former members of Combatwoundedveteran, The Holy Mountain, Headless Dogs, Primate Research, and more.
Hardcore as shit, a thundering concoction of 1990s influences drive the Meatwound sound; a magnetic gutter wherein the pentatonic, industrialized elements of Fudge Tunnel and Godflesh meet a sordid death metal edge meshing Sepultura and Exit-13, all while a throbbing Big Black-style of hardcore punk gets a scuzzy sci-fi kick in the nuts that harkens The Locust.
"Addio," Meatwound's debut, was recorded with Dan Byer at Rock Garden Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound, and features the twisted artwork of Chris Norris, aka Steak Mtn.
The first warning shot from "Addio," titled "Funeral State," can now be heard below. The full track listing is as follows:
1. In Toilet
2. Goliath
3. Funeral State
