Indie Recordings Releasing Holiday Sampler
Just in time for the holidays, Scandinavian hard rock/heavy metal powerhouse Indie Recordings looks back on a delightfully debaucherous 2014 with the Christmas Carnage sampler.
The collection includes sonic devastation from the likes of Viking metal behemoths Einherjer, Pagan extreme metallers Kampfar, avant Norse folk duo Solefald, and more. The compilation is due out tomorrow and will be available at iTunes here. The full track listing is as follows:

Riwen Streaming New EP
Simple, raw, fast and unapologetic, Riwen is a Swedish DIY hardcore project spawned by Cult Of Luna guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson. Joined by members of Totalt Jävla Mörker and Sonic Ritual, the band spews forth crusty, punk-infused hardcore bedlam. Elaborates Persson:
"It's a short and simple story: I got fed up with the big productions and long sound checks that comes with Cult Of Luna. So, it's back to the roots of my salad days in Umeå. It's time to make it simple, raw and fast. This is hardcore. I decided to write fourteen songs in fourteen days inspired by the bands I worshiped as vegan straight edge punk kid: Judge, Battery, Integrity, ACME and Damnation AD.
"The Riwen concept is to not spend months in the studio and nitpick over every drumbeat and production details. The musical destruction has to be alive and direct, tailor-made to induce mosh mayhem and walls of death. I hooked up with [vocalist] Fredrik [Lindkvist] and [drummer] Christian [Augustin], both with a past in the crust/grind terror force Totalt Jävla Mörker. One rehearsal sealed the deal and we recorded three tracks in one night about to be released as a ten-inch vinyl on the Norwegian metal label Indie Recordings. Adding guitar player Marita [Jonsson Mätlik] and bass player Christoffer 138 [Röstlund Jonsson; DS-13, AC4, Epileptic Terror Attack, Sonic Ritual etc.] the lineup was complete. And thus, we are ready to slam dance all over the world. Are you ready? Tonight we ride!"

Johannes Persson Announces New Band
Johannes Persson from Cult of Luna has issued the following announcement about his new band Riwen's upcoming releases:
"This is my new band - we are called Riwen and will be releasing a 3 song 10" this fall and hopefully record an album before the end of the year. Musically it is pretty far from Cult of Luna but some of you might like it anyway.
"Last fall I decided to write 14 songs in 14 days in the vein of music that I grew up to and was the influence when I learned to write music about 20 years ago. Think early 90's hardcore like Integrity, Judge, Damnation AD, Battery, Amce and onward in that fashion.
"On the 10" it is me, Fredrik that used to sing in Totalt Jävla Mörker and Christan that is still active in that band but that also has been working as a touring drummer for Cult of Luna for the last couple of years. Since the recording we have added two new members so soon we will be ready to hit the stage.
"It's is simple, it is ugly and it is fast."
