Set And Setting Reveals New Album

Florida outfit Set And Setting will drop third album "Reflectionless" on January 27th, 2017 on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Today you can hear opening track "Saudade" below.

Guitarist Shane Handal gives this insight into the release: "Every album we have done has had a concept to it. With 'Reflectionless' I wanted to be a little more vague. This album is based on the idea that external reality is just a projection of your inner self. The particular 'character' here has no idea who they are, therefore having no reflection."

New album "Reflectionless" was recorded by Ryan Haft (Torche, Wrong) at Black Bear Studios in Gainesville, Florida, and mastered by Ed Brooks (R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie) at Resonant Mastering.

Set And Setting Streams "Coping" Track

The instrumentalists in Set And Setting have unveiled the first full track from their upcoming Prosthetic debut “A Vivid Memory.” Take a listen to “Coping” in the video stream below, which showcases the album’s cover art created by Emily Miller.

Guitarist Shane Handal says, “‘Coping’ is from the outsider’s perspective in dealing with a loss of some sort. The start of the song is dark and aggressive, while it slowly changes into a feeling of hope and power to move on.”

Scheduled for release on September 2, “A Vivid Memory” is now available for pre-order via the Prosthetic webshop, where you can purchase the album on CD, cassette tape, or 180-gram black double-vinyl paired with an exclusive t-shirt.

“A Vivid Memory” was recorded at Pinecrust Studios in Miami and was produced, engineered and mixed by Ryan Haft (Torche, Capsule). Mastering was completed by Nick Zampiello (Pelican, ISIS, Junius) at New Alliance East. Handal commented on the album: “Although ‘A Vivid Memory’ is all instrumental, it is a conceptual album based on the tragedy of loss and death from both the insider and outsider’s perspective. The themes throughout the album incorporate all cycles of emotion that typically come along with such an event in someone’s life.”

Set And Setting Inks Deal With Prosthetic

Ambient post-metal instrumental quintet Set And Setting is pleased to announce the band has joined the Prosthetic Records roster. The group’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album will be released this summer and more details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Guitarist Shane Handal commented: “We’re very excited to work with the great team at Prosthetic. Their confidence in us is inspiring and we are grateful to have this opportunity. We have always strived to grow and share our music as far as possible, and we feel that Prosthetic will help us continue this to a whole new level.”

Hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida, Set And Setting was originally formed as a recording project in 2009 by Handal and has since continued to develop into its current line-up featuring Ryan Fugate (guitars), Stephen Handal (drums, ambience), Mark Etherington (drums) and Nick Sibilia (bass).

The genre-defying quintet, lauded as 2013's “Best Bay Area Breakout Band” by Creative Loafing (Tampa), released debut album “Equanimity” last year via Science of Silence Records. You can stream the release below. More...
