Old Lines Posts New Track Online
Hardcore punk band Old Lines is streaming a new song called “Paint Them Gold” today, which can be heard below thanks to MetalInjection.net.
The track is featured on upcoming record "No Child Left Behind," which is due out on October 14th. Fans can pre-order the album now at this location.
“Paint Them Gold” is about how large corporations manipulate people into accepting a quick buck or a short term fix while ignoring the big picture,” says vocalist Matt Taylor. “Energy companies are buying up farmland all over the country to start fracking operations, and doing so by taking advantage of struggling families with empty promises of fixing their financial situation. Inevitably, Capitalism will always win and the farmers will lose more and more until they are left with nothing. This song is a plea for all of us to start considering the damage that will come from looking for an easy way out, and a battle cry to end the cooperation with those who would sooner destroy our earth than help anything that lives on it.” More...
Old Lines Streaming "The Hunt(ed)"
Baltimore based hardcore band Old Lines has debuted a new track called “The Hunt(ed)” today via BrooklynVegan.com (also available below).
The track is featured on the band’s upcoming record, "No Child Left Behind," which is due out on October 14th via No Sleep Records. Fans can pre-order the record now at this location.
“The Hunt(ed) is a gut reaction to the sadness and rage of wolf hunting,” says vocalist Matt Taylor. “Not only have we demonized these animals, creating fear and promoting misinformation, but we have also transformed their systematic slaughter into a tragic display of human imperialism. Our collective desire to 'conquer' nature, and infantile need to prove our superiority has only served to separate us from the natural world, and will become one more nail in our coffins when the tables turn. All living things in our world deserve a chance to live freely, and we will never find peace of any sort until we realize that." More...
Old Lines Streaming New Song
Baltimore’s salty hardcore heroes in Old Lines have revealed plans to release their full-length album, "No Child Left Behind," on October 14th via No Sleep Records.
The band has also premiered a new song called “Traps” today with AVClub.com. Check out the song below, and pre-orders for the album can be found at this location.
“This record in general is about somewhat taking the focus away from corporations and the lawmakers that support them, and instead taking responsibility for our own part in letting them do it,” says vocalist Matt Taylor. “As long as people remain silent and apathetic to what's happening around them, these issues will multiply, and the repercussions will become more severe for the earth and everything on it. In 2014, we don't have the luxury of ignorance anymore.”
Apathetic behavior is a theme that runs throughout the new record, including on the band’s new track “Traps.” The song puts society on blast for turning a blind eye for so long to the destruction of our planet and the resulting changes in climate.
“Traps is a song about how we all are responsible for the state our environment is in, and (more specifically) our collective regret that these issues have reached such a catastrophic degree,” Taylor adds. “We've ignored countless warnings from scientists all over the world for the sake of our own personal convenience. Only now, as the damage is becoming more visceral and the earth as we know it is in a tailspin, are people starting to admit that issues such as global climate change have real consequences and demand attention. However it's all just a little too late. We set the traps ourselves, and now we're crying that we're caught in them.” More...
Old Lines Enters The Studio
Baltimore based punk band Old Lines has entered the studio to record a full-length album that’s scheduled for release later this year via No Sleep Records.
The band is currently recording in its hometown with Kevin Bernsten at Developing Nations Studios (Mutilation Rites, Full of Hell, Magrudergrind).
“The direction of this record is an extension of our previous two both in content and sound, but with a more pronounced sense of urgency,” explains Matt Taylor. “Musically, The songs are a bit faster and more chaotic, and the lyrical content follows the same sense of frantic frustration.”
Old Lines formed in 2010 and is made up of Mitch Roemer, Jake Berry, Matt Taylor and Pat Martin. The band’s merciless sound is directly fueled by an outspoken political and social agenda and vehement disdain for corruption and injustices that plague society.
The forthcoming album follows the 2013 EP "If You See Something, Say Something." More...
Old Lines Signs To No Sleep Records
The Baltimore based D-beat punks in Old Lines have officially announced they’ve signed with Huntington Beach independent label No Sleep Records. The band is currently writing a next record, which should be out later this year.
Old Lines was formed in 2010 by ex-Pulling Teeth/Ruiner guitarist Mitch Roemer and drummer Jake Berry, who after sifting through a slew of musicians brought in Pat Martin on bass and Matt Taylor on vocals.
Musically, the band’s sound blurs the lines of crust punk and hardcore with hints of metal and doom. Lyrically, the band’s agenda is purely political and social. Political corruption, capitalism, and social and environmental injustices help stoke the fires behind the band’s intense sound and snarling lyrics. More...
