Messenger Posts "Calyx" Video

London-based progressive / psychedelic rock outfit Messenger will release second album "Threnodies" on April 22nd, 2016.

Messenger is extremely pleased to now release a video for the album's opening track "Calyx," directed by the band's own Khaled Lowe, as well as Sam Edwards.

The band had this to say: "The music and images take us on a hallucinatory voyage into the calyx of a flower on a sub microscopic level; a journey into the centre of nature and existence that delves deeper into the mysterious fractal realm, exploring the innermost reaches of the human psyche. As the limit of our perceptions break down, the underlying nature of reality is revealed in a crescendo of colour and motion, utilising a fusion of time-lapse photography, animation, CGI and live action." Messenger Streaming "Baleaeric Blue"

London-based progressive, psychedelic outfit Messenger recently signed to InsideOutMusic for the release of forthcoming second album "Threnodies."

The album is due on April 22nd, 2016, and now Messenger is pleased to reveal first track "Balearic Blue." The band had this to say about the track:

"We're very excited to present a preview track from our forthcoming album 'Threnodies' as well as the cover artwork. The artwork and layout were created by Colombian, Berlin-based artist Daniel Correa Mejia. We were mesmerized by his paintings and decided that his work fits perfectly with our music. 'Balearic Blue' is more along the lines of our previous release 'Illusory Blues', so expect something different for the next track. We're very much looking forward to performing some of these new songs on our forthcoming tour with the Von Hertzen Brothers and HRH Prog in March" More...

Messenger Signs With InsideOutMusic

London-based progressive, psychedelic rockers Messenger have signed to InsideOutMusic for the release of the forthcoming second album "Threnodies," which is due out on April 22nd, 2016. Details of the album are expected shortly.

The band had this to say about the signing and new album: "We're very excited about our new journey with InsideOut and we hope that this new venture will take the band to the next level. Our new album 'Threnodies' was written and recorded over three months at Orgone Studios in London with our drummer Jaime Gomez Arellano handling the production and engineering duties. We like to think of it as an evolution of our first release 'Illusory Blues'. We went to places we haven't been before, while still keeping our identity. It's a modern day mix of progressive rock, hard rock and psychedelia."

The 5-piece band released the debut album "Illusory Blues" in 2014 to much acclaim, with the band winning the "Limelight" award at the Progressive Music Awards that year, and being nominated for Best New Band at the Classic Rock Awards in 2015. Q Magazine called their debut "an intriguing and impressive first album", while The Guardian said "they straddle the supermassive black hole between prog and folk." More...

Messenger Posts "Dear Departure" Video

Today, Messenger (UK) premieres a psychedelic new video for "Dear Departure," which can be seen below, courtesy of The Independent.

The track hails from the band's debut album, "Illusory Blues," recently released by Svart Records. The video for "Dear Departure" precedes Messenger's upcoming UK/European tour with Katatonia. The band comments on the video:

"Musically, the song tries to convey a natural event of great magnitude, like an earthquake or a storm - a display of the sheer force of nature at its most merciless. It's also a reminder to the self to strive for inner calm after a storm, figuratively speaking. The video uses masking and compositing techniques to show the secret worlds that exist inside our thoughts and dreams - a utopia, of sorts, and a glimpse into the realms that exist before birth, during life, and after death.”
