Vote or Participate In Famecast's Metal Stage

There is an online competition going on at Famecast.com, which includes a metal "stage." This is the first season for the metal stage and Famecast's second season competition. Artists register and submit a music video, then fans vote and after 4 total rounds of voting 5 finalists from each stage are flown to Austin TX to compete in a webcast contest. The winner from each genre gets a check for $10,000. There will be a total of 12 winners - one from each stage or "genre."

The metal stage is currently open for voting, but still taking submissions through June 11.

The competition begins with the audience selecting the Top 50 artist performances. The contestant field will be narrowed each round until an ultimate winner is selected. Viewers may vote for as many artists they wish, but may only vote once per artist in each round. Advancing contestants must submit a NEW performance video when they reach the Top 10 (Round 4). Artists can choose to submit a new performance video during the Top 50 and Top 25 (Rounds 2 and 3), however, it is not required. The final five contestants from each Stage will be flown on location to compete in the FameCast 5 Finals, a live webcast where the online viewing audience selects the ultimate winner in each genre – the Famecast Fenom.

Already, some notables including At All Cost, Powerderburn and Desolate Ways are participating, as well as a number of even more underground bands. So head on over and sign up to vote or participate. Or just go and watch the videos.

There Are No Rules At A Powderburn Show

Austin's online entertainment guide www.austin360.com has posted the following article on Powderburn:

Powderburn is a name that fans in the underground metal scene have come to recognize. This hardcore metal act spawned in October of 1998 from guitarist Josh Klayman, in a small apartment in Austin, Texas. With the combined efforts of drummer Joel Reyes from Austin, guitarist Ken Lockman from New Jersey and bassist Greg Enkler from New York, Powderburn has quickly made an impact on the local music scene, as well as spread their name nationally and internationally via the internet and relentless touring.

When it comes to playing live shows, Powderburn is no stranger to the stage. They live for playing live and nothing else. After just a couple of years, the band has produced over 200 shows to crowds ranging from 3 to 3,000. When they aren't opening for metal acts such as Anthrax, The Misfits, Drowning Pool, Six Feet Under, Skinlab and The Union Underground, among others, Powderburn is headlining its own shows all over the southern states. While the music can certainly speak for itself, the band also incorporates an elaborate stage show that adds to the intensity of their live performance - further setting them apart from their peers. Powderburn knows they are doing something right because fans at each show automatically assume we already have the backing of a major label. This is only a matter of time. Powderburn's trademark is to excite its fans to a new level of insanity with heated riffs and thunderous low ends, that the crowd dives into a world of primal energy following the band's #1 rule, "There are no rules at a Powderburn show."
