Sofy Major Releasing A Total "Waste"

From the post-industrial wilderness of Clermont-Ferrand, France's violently addictive hardcore-soaked noise rock outfit Sofy Major has confirmed the completion of a third LP. This week the band discloses the release details for "Waste" (set to drop October 29th through Solar Flare Records) while also gearing up to perform at Hellfest this weekend.

The construction of Sofy Major's "Waste" LP was handled by nearly the same cohorts as preceding sophomore album, "Idolize," yet under radically different circumstances. While the band traveled from France to Brooklyn, New York in October 2012 to record with Andrew Schneider at Translator Audio (Unsane, Keelhaul, Cave In), Hurricane Sandy waged war on the region, the immense storm surge demolishing the entire studio and all of the band's gear. Label mate Dave Curran (Unsane, Pigs) helped Schneider and the band relocate to Brooklyn's Seaside Lounge and Spaceman Sound studios and complete the recording sessions Sandy attempted to thwart.

Now comes forth the band's third album, "Waste," with just under forty-two minutes of new material mixed by Andrew Schneider (Pigs, Julie Christmas, Unsane) at Translator Audio in Brooklyn and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering. The track listing is as follows:

1. Waste
2. We See Fire
3. Turning Point
4. Slow Everywhere
5. Infinite Pill Case
6. Black and Table
7. Iron Butt
8. Devotion Man
9. As Happy As [Les Thugs cover] More...

Sofy Major Documentary Clip Available

"Buckets, Curtains & More Noise," an in-depth video documentary released by French noise metal act Sofy Major, is now available and meshes interviews of the band members with footage captured during October 2011's massive Superstorm Sandy.

Check it out below, courtesy of Geargods.net. The following press release was also issued about the video:

"The decimating, record-setting hurricane inundating the East Coast US right as Sofy Major had migrated from the post-industrial badlands of Clermont-Ferrand, France to Brooklyn, New York to record their Idolize LP at Brooklyn's Translator Audio studios with Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Keelhaul, Cave In).

"Sandy razed the studio, flooding and ruining endless thousands of dollars of equipment, including everything the French trio had imported for the recording. Forging through it all, with the help of some remarkable friends, the sessions were quickly rescheduled at nearby locations, Idolize was recorded with extreme aggression, and the band's US tour carried on. This nearly twenty-five minute documentary showcases the band's entire incredible story of their struggle to keep spirits high and tells the heartfelt appreciation for their American cohorts and fans who helped them through and made the album a reality.

"Like a demented mesh of the Melvins slamming into High On Fire with undeniable noise/metal influences instigated by the likes of Unsane, Quicksand and Deadguy, Idolize encapsulates Sofy Major's intoxicating concoction of sludge riffage, stale beer, shattered dreams and perseverance. Listen to and purchase the entire bruising LP via Solar Flare Records here." More...

Sofy Major Streams New Song

In preparation for the disbursement of new LP "Idolize," today French act Sofy Major proudly offers another new single from the album. Stream “Steven The Slow” through Invisible Oranges here or in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Just after Sofy Major flew into Brooklyn in October 2012 to record Idolize at Translator Audio with producer Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Keelhaul, Cave In), Hurricane Sandy waged war on the region, the massive storm surge the bitch of a storm brought with her wiped out the entire studio and all of the band’s gear.

"The trio hooked up with cohort and labelmate Dave Curran (Unsane, Pigs), who helped Schneider and the band relocate to Brooklyn’s Seaside Lounge and Spaceman Sound studios and complete the recording sessions Sandy attempted to thwart.

"Invisible Oranges and Brooklyn Vegan are now hosting an exclusive stream of the album’s third track. The pummeling metallic swank of 'Steven The Slow' showcases the dredging, angular, possibly drugged slow-paced ramble Sofy Major has so masterfully crafted, the track also featuring guest vocals from their bro Dave Curran.
