These Arms Are Snakes Has Van and Trailer Stolen

These Arms Are Snakes' van and trailer were stolen in Seattle over the weekend. Here's a statement from the group:

"I guess it happens to every band at some point. Our van and trailer were stolen from the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle at some point between the afternoon of Saturday the 13th and the evening of Sunday the 14th. The good news is that none of our equipment was inside of it at the time. The bad news is that we're not insured for theft. So if anyone happens to see a 15-passenger dark gray Ford van with a two-axle trailer attached and some meth-heads cooking up drugs in the back, be sure to let us or the police know. Strangely enough, we were getting ready to take it in for repairs because we couldn't get the damn thing to start. Hopefully whoever solved that problem in the process of stealing it will also fix the leaking radiator."

These Arms Are Snakes Lose Drummer

These Arms Are Snakes have officially announced that drummer Ben Verellen will be leaving the band and will be replaced by Chris Common. Here's a statement from the band:

"We are unfortunately losing our great friend, Ben, as our drummer. He will be sorely missed for we had many great times in the past year or so. It seems like only yesterday that he started rocking those 26" drums on our asses. John Bonham would be proud to call him a son. A bastard son maybe but still a son! So for all of you who loved seeing Ben rock the shit out of those drums, come and say goodbye to him with us this weekend at the Block Party. As mentioned before we play on Sunday on the mainstage. Ben, you are a true friend and are considered a brother. You will be missed."

Verellen will make his final appearance with the band on Sunday (7/31) at The Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle, WA.

These Arms Are Snakes' Frederiksen On Odd Title

These Arms Are Snakes guitarist Ryan Frederiksen spoke with San Francisco Weekly about the title of their latest effort, 'Oxeneers or The Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home'. "Yeah, a lot of people don't understand it," Frederiksen admitted. "We were trying to come up with a title that encompassed all of the lyrics, which has this whole story about the struggle and trials of the working life going through it, all these kind of character sketches, and we were originally thinking Auctioneers, but since there's so many animal references in the lyrics we decided to change it to Oxeneers, because an ox is an animal of labor, right? And therefore ..." Frederiksen pauses for just a second, then begins to laugh. "It sounds fu**in' ridiculous, I know, but an ox is an animal of labor so it lends itself to auctioneers to make Oxeneers and 'the lion sleeps when its antelope go home' is a line from the last song, 'Idaho,' that basically means the same thing ..."
