For over a decade at the world's largest outdoor metal festival Wacken Open Air, independent metal bands from around the globe have been performing in front of thousands and competing against one another for one to be crowned champion of the world along with winning multiple prizes.
For the first time ever, Wacken Metal Battle USA is coming to America for its inaugural year and will be hosting qualifying rounds in New York City as well as newly added events in Boston and Philadelphia. The national champion of those battles will perform at the 2017 festival taking place from August 3rd - 5th. The first batch of qualifying rounds have been announced for Boston and Philadelphia as follows:

On January 6th, 2017, thrash / doom band Swarm Of Eyes will release second album, "We Go to War With the Weapons We Have," via Humanemic Records.
Produced by Dave "Weirdbeard" McCafferty and Swarm of Eyes' guitarist George O'Connor, the 7-song EP features four brand new tracks, two cover songs, and re-recorded tarck "Humanemic" (the imprint's namesake) from the band's first album, "Designing the Dystopia."
The band decided to re-record "Humanemic" since its original incarnation only featured three of the band's current members and originally used a programmed rhythm section. Since the recording of "Designing the Dystopia,: bassist Jeff Grossman and drummer Tommy Burke joined the ranks, giving Swarm of Eyes a more dynamic element. More...
Boston's Swarm of Eyes has announced Tommy Burke as the band's new drummer. Burke, a veteran of the New England metal scene, will be joining the band on its first set of live shows in September and October.
Burke has played with such bands as Vertical Smile, Ratchaburi, and Trench. Before joining Swarm of Eyes, he had also played drums for Exceed, which also featured Swarm of Eyes vocalist Randy Carter.
Swarm of Eyes will be making the band's live debut on Saturday September 24th, 2011 at The Lucky Dog in Worcester, MA. The group is also scheduled to perform on Thursday October 6th, 2011 at Great Scott in Alston, MA.
