Five Bands I’m Excited To See At Mystic Festival

Mystic Festival is just around the corner and I’m getting hyped. This will be my fourth year in a row attending this underrated and severely overlooked metal festival that takes place in the northern port city of Gdansk, Poland. If you’re not familiar with this festival, do a quick Google search and read for yourself why this festival needs to be mentioned alongside the summer heavyweights like Brutal Assault, Wacken, Hellfest and Download. Mystic festival may not have the eye popping number of attendees and sheer amount of bands as those aforementioned festivals, but in just about every other comparison, Mystic Festival either holds its ground or just dominates those festivals.

Mexico Metal Fest V & VI Preview

After a two years’ delay, Mexico Metal Fest is back! The Monterrey, Mexico based metal festival will finally happen on September 23rd and 24th at Expo Guadalupe in the municipality of Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon. Amazingly, the Mexico Metal Fest organizers were able to salvage the majority of the original line-ups from 2020/2021 that were both postponed due to the pandemic.

A major highlight for this year’s festival is that it will include Germany’s Big Four: Kreator, Destruction, Sodom and Tankard. I couldn’t tell you when the last time these historic thrash bands have graced the same stage together but it was probably decades ago, in Germany no less.

The amazing line-up also includes some of death and black metal’s most storied bands. Recently reunited Swedish death metal gods, Dismember, take the stage on Friday, September 23rd. Bay Area Death Metal legends, Possessed, will make their 2nd appearance at Mexico Metal Fest on Saturday. Greece’s original and most famous black metal band, Rotting Christ, will make their first appearance at the festival on Friday. And last but not least, Triumph of Death aka Hellhammer, will be making their first appearance ever on Mexican soil on Friday.
