"Endseeker wastes no time whatsoever in getting to the point, unleashing a death/thrash combination which immediately gets the head moving."

It must be difficult to be a death metal band today. It's a sub-genre that is over-saturated with bands from all over the world and is possibly the most crowded of all metal's areas. The days of death metal being a new and abrasive style are long gone, so bands have to really work on their craft and make sure they're good at it. Hamburg's Endseeker has been honing their style for just under a decade now, and with every release seem to be cementing their place as one of Europe's brightest death metal acts. Fans will be hoping that they can continue to create rousing music and luckily for them, they've done just that with their fourth album, "Global Worming."

Beginning with the title track, Endseeker wastes no time whatsoever in getting to the point, unleashing a death/thrash combination that immediately gets the head moving. The song is a pretty straightforward one, ripping at a frantic pace, with an added twist in the chorus to help give it an extra spin and keep it interesting. "Violence Is Gold" continues in this vein, with a bit more of a blunt approach, which can also be said of "Hanging Gardens."

There is some variation on the album, which stops it from becoming monotonous and predictable. Perhaps the most notable example would be the closing number, "Nemesis," which focuses more on the atmosphere and sinister vibe of the song, complete with a more melodic intro than one would expect after listening to the rest of the record. There are some tempo changes and a little hardcore influence found scattered throughout the album too, which helps give it all more of a dynamic.

Overall, it's a very fun death metal album, with an exciting tone from start to finish. Songs like "Hell Is Here" and "Wheel Of Torture" are particularly memorable for their heart-racing pace and catchy structures, with the former's chorus really standing out. Elsewhere, "Our Only Life" gets in and gets out in under three minutes, making its point and not hanging around to fill out the run time. The band are very good at being concise without letting any of the songs feel too short or unfulfilled.

Endseeker has been climbing the ranks of European death metal since their Metal Blade debut, "The Harvest," four years ago. They gained a lot more attention with the very satisfying, "Mount Carcass" in 2021. With "Global Worming," they continue to make their mark and deliver a stimulating collection of death metal tunes that are sure to delight fans old and new and will help them win over newcomers too. It's not going to win any awards for originality, but rather than try to be something they're not, Endseeker focuses on making high-quality music and succeeds in their goal.

Highs: Exciting music with "Hell Is Here," "Wheel Of Torture" and "C.B.V." standing out the most.

Lows: A relatively similar pace throughout and a few standard songs.

Bottom line: Fun and frantic death metal which will please fans.
