Mustaine Attacks Ulrich and Hetfield

Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has spoken to Canada's Chart Attack about the inclusion of a scene in Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster" documentary in which Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich sits down with Mustaine for a one-on-one therapy session.
"Everyone says how the part with me [in the movie] is the most intense. Yeah, because I'm the only one who thinks Lars is a punk," Mustaine said. "Everyone else is afraid of him. He looks like a fuckin' Eminem wannabe right now. Anyone who watches that movie and doesn't realize that whoever comes into contact with Lars hates him… If you watch the movie closely, you see that Lars treats everyone so badly. They all end up in therapy! Even the counselor ended up in therapy!
"For years [Metallica] said I wasn’t important to them; that I was a temporary guitar player or they never said anything about me," he continued. "But now all of a sudden I'm so important that they need me in their movie. Were you lying then or are you lying now? Why am I so important that I need to be in your stupid movie? And when I told them I didn't want it used — I told the director I didn't approve of it — and they went ahead and used it. Then Lars goes online and says he doesn't understand why I’m so pissed off. You didn't listen to me! Then when he catches wind that I’m getting sick of his crap he says, 'Aww, I just want to hug Dave. I'm sexually attracted to him.' What the hell happened to you?"
Mustaine also said that classic Metallica songs such as "Jump In The Fire" and "The Four Horsemen" are his. Along with a number of others.
"Not only [the songs on] 'Kill 'Em All', but 'Ride The Lightning' title track, 'Call Of Kthulu', parts of 'Leper Messiah'... Listen to parts of 'Leper Messiah' and then 'Ride The Lighting'. It's that same spider chord. I invented that! How the hell can you not credit me for writing that?"
Mustaine has his own answer.
"James [Hetfield] didn't want to give me credit because he's jealous of me. His whole frontman persona he copped from me. In the beginning of the band, he just sang and I did all the guitar work. When he was done singing, he'd walk away from the microphone and I had to walk up to the mic and talk. I'm like, 'What's wrong with this picture? I'm getting your beer tonight!' I think the most disappointing thing out of all of it is that when you look at all of the accomplishments they've made over the years, people are trying to make me invisible. My career's been successful; I've had a blast while I'm here but it would have been nice if Metallica fans really knew what my contribution was instead of them saying there wasn't any.
"I don't want to look bad on anybody, but it's like the Flight Of Icarus: if you fly too high, you'll melt your wings," Mustaine concluded. "I think there are so many people that are happy it's over; that they're failing. I don't wish that on James at all. I really don't care about Kirk [Hammett] — he stole my job, but at least I got to bang his girlfriend before he took my job — how do I taste, Kirk? I do miss James though, even though we'll never work together again. With the silence, it's like, what are you afraid of? If I have to be in the movie, then obviously I mattered. Why didn't you say in the movie, 'Hey listen, I've been a twat because for 20 years. I pretended you were invisible.' Then I would have been like, 'OK! You can put my part in!'"

It's obvious that he's the one that's jealous of Metallica's success - success which Megadeth never had. If he truly had the talent to write timeless music it woulda been Megadeth that overshadowed Metallica throughout the 80s and 90s not vice versa.

To brad: Well, I have heard every album by them. I guess I dont know anything. The only thing Metallica did that impressed me was the song One which was terrific. Dont get me wrong, Megadeth has it's share of stinkers too, but I believe they have less crap than Metallica does.

I think Dave's right, but since he says he believes in Jesus (I read it in an interview, I don't know how much truth it has), he should learn about forgiveness... Dave IS part of the history of Metallica, and I think their intention about getting him into the movie was not just because of 'promoting' the product, but also a step towards building up (good) relation again. And Dave's appearance WAS a station to forgiveness. But both of them made a mistake. Dave didn't like the scene they wanted to cut in, that's fine. Metallica wanted to have a scene with Dave, that's fine again. The problem is the 20 years... there were too much silence. During that time they should have learnt about not behaving as boys in kindergarten. Solution is to sit down and talk over... And this is what happens in the movie actually. They talked to three hours. Weren't they able to figure out something as a medicine for the injuries suffered in the last two decades?

Metallica was only good when they were "starving" and playing from the gut... same is true for many bands. The best metal is still the "underground" metal where the bands play because thats what they feel not becuase they are going to sell out a stadium.

Dave holds a grudge from every interview I ever read by him over metallica. Get the f*** over it! What the f*** man! It happened when you were a f***ing child. yeah, diss metallica all u want, but they're still selling records, playing sold out shows and now releasing a box office movie. So it sounds to me like they're playing their cards right. They know that millions of bands are doing what they did so why not experiment, at least they're unpredictable and still manage to draw people of all ages to their shows. That's the way I see it. No wonder Mustaine is not happy; I'm 100% positive that he'd like his band to be as big and as successful as Metallica are now. Even though I don'l like St. Anger, I still have tonnes of respect for them and any which way they decide to go musically. Few bands have contributed as much to metal/rock music over the last 20 years - they got nothing to prove to me. To try to discredit them NOW is just silly.

Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton were the ONLY reason Metallica ever became successful. Just notice the decline in music after Cliff died. He was the one pushing the envelope with that band and there is NO better rhythm player then Dave. James was taleneted too, BUT he learned from Dave. Both bands rocked, but Dave got the last laugh.

In my opinion metallica became super sucessfull with master when they toured with Ozzy and got seen more to the masses. They had a huge underground to mainstream movement. But that is nothing compared to the black album that is the most sucessfull thing they ever did. They got chearleaders and d*** heads to listen to there music. Kind of what everyone was trying to do for them with no success. But soon as the posers started listening it wasn't what we had in mind. We then started to blame metallica for being successfull, and in reality is what all the original fans wanted from the get go. We just didn't realize the consciquences of it.
