Drowning Pool Turned Away At Canadian Border Again

Band Photo: Drowning Pool (?)
For the second time this year, Drowning Pool has been turned away while trying to enter Canada. The band was scheduled to play a July 30th show at Toronto's Opera House, but was denied entrance to the country when their tour bus attempted to cross the border. Bassist Stevie Benton told Blabbermouth.net that the band members feel like "troublemakers who aren't invited to the big party. It's hard to shake a bad reputation."
That bad reputation prevented the band from playing Canadian shows this past May, marking its first time being prevented access into the country. Back then, drummer Mike Luce told Launch that he took responsibility for the problem: "I had had, myself back in the past, a DWI (driving while intoxicated), so I had to get that taken care of and once it was finally done, it was all good. Here in America, you know, for whatever reason, that's considered a misdemeanor, but there, it's a felony, and once it was all finally figured out, then we were like, okay, we were able to take care of what it was and put everything back on track."

i dont really care about canada that much,so im not goin to b**** about them, i just want to know what the f*** is goin on with this border patrol? why are bands being turned away? what is the problem with them? i know hatebreed got turned away as well, and they didnt do anything, and neither did drowning pool...stupid sh** like this shouldnt happen..

I don't know what the hell is going on with the border, but it's frustrating not being able to see some of these bands. Yeah, Hatebreed got turned away in the same week Drowning Pool did last time they tried to come through. I think Brides of Destruction couldn't get across either.

well said big baby jesus, i actually think the reason Drowning Pool got turned
away is because they are an American band. i know that last time when all of those
bands got turned away, they said it was set and load problems or they couldn't sell
the merchandise to Canada without a liscence. bullcrap. i think that drowning pool
got turned away the second time not only because they're America but because
they are from Texas, where the President is from.
i know that sounds far-fetched but it's probably true. Canadians hate our guts.

darkstar, hatebreed got turned away the same week as drowning pool? do you know if they were on the headbangers ball tour, or they just happened to have concerts their that same week? just wondering if you knew..anyways...is there any place or person we can contact to see if this canadian border patrol can be...not a problem any more? i know there are some elected officials who might be able to do something....but would they care? eh, i wont go any further, i dont want to make a government issue out of this....well..maybe it has something to do with canadas government..

well, first and foremost, the decision as to whether or not someone is allowed to cross the border depends entirely on what the border guard sees fit, and whether or not it would be a wise decision to let the person (s) through, and you wanna know something funny?, any border guards on the Canadian/American border are provided by, yup, you guessed it , the good ol' U.S.A.!....
now i myself do share the pain of not bein' able to see these fine bands perform, i have however had the pleasure to see Hatebreed twice, here...in Canada , we're all fans of the loud sh** much like you guys, but for some reason we turn away people with minor offences, like they're some sorta terrorist, but then again, i've been turned away at your guys border before, and all i got is a possession charge, but you don't see us rippin' on you guys, it's the bordergaurd's job, sh** happens, take it in spoonfuls.

yes but the very few men and women provided by the U.S.A are usually Canadians
who got their green card and are still so anti-American towards us.
and yeah, most of the Canadian population hates our guts. You guys don't even
have free speech or otherwise you would be getting all kinds of tv channels that
you are not getting right now. same things with newspapers and possibly websites.
and yeah, they are suppoosed to check out people with minor offenses, but
seriously now, why turn away all of them. if you wanna turn away a band for
something credible at least read about them before you do it.

rue, I can't say for the rest of Canada, but I do know that the Headbangers Ball did not come to Vancouver. Hatebreed was supposed to play here May 8 with Unearth and Drowning Pool was supposed to open up for Damageplan the day after. But unfortunately, they couldn't. As for contacting the border...I'm sorry but I don't know anything about it.
brokenwings13, why do you say we don't have free speech? We've got hundreds of tv channels here. And we definitely do not have a limited number of websites. If you want to bash a country for its censorship, turn to China. And if they do happen to turn away everyone from Texas, then why was Jessica Simpson here a few weeks ago? Yeugh. I wish they'd reject her.

rue, why don't you click on "2/27 confirmed Headbanger's Ball tour dates" in the
related Band news area?? maybe it's in there. and theres probably a website for
the border, why don't you ask jeeves it? you could get an answer.
and darkstar, i don't live in Canada so i don't know as much as you do about the country. I know that i'm an American and we certainly do have a few more liberties and
freedoms than you do. I'm sory if i have offended you by living across the border from
you. also, i meant that your news channels are censored, not all of you tv channels.
and honestly, i wish they would reject jessica simpson too, it's bad enough that we call
her a star, but i wish she would just go away. she's making money by being stupid. if
getting rich was this easy, half of texas would be richer than you think. I could act
brainless and makes tons of money, but i wouldn't feel good about it because i would
know that i'm cheating myself out of the greater opportunities that come with being a
smart person.

brokenwings13, I'm not offended, I was just wondering what you meant as you seem to know more about politics and such than I do. But I don't watch the news anyway because it depresses me. It's all about deaths and stuff. What's funny about Jessica Simpson was that I heard there were no more than 4000 people at her concert, in a stadium that seats 20,000. Haha. And she has to act dumb in order to make money to feed her husband, whose career is going down. Hah.

it's not me, i wasn't even home then, i left as soon as i posted that and got back
shortley before i posted that "impostered" one. ok?
darkstar- nor was i offended by your comments, i was just replying to them as i
would with any other person.
and unfortunetly, Jessica Simpson came through Lubbock last month and
the place of venue only sold 2/3 of her tickets. so no small crowds. although the place
she was at only seats about 8,000. I didn't go, but i read most of the reports
in the paper about the shows and stuff.
