Slipknot Set Release Date For New Album

SLIPKNOT have set a May 25 release date through Roadrunner Records for their much-anticipated, as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2001's "Iowa".

The band are currently preparing to hit the road as part of the fourth installment of the Jägermeister Music Tour, beginning March 30 in Orlando, Florida. FEAR FACTORY and CHIMAIRA are also onboard for the five-week trek, which wraps up May 4 in Denver. Tickets for the tour go on sale February 13. A variety of Jägermeister-sponsored bands will assume the fourth spot on the bill.

Commented drummer Joey Jordison, "We're back and it's been far too long. On the tour we are ready to get completely back to basics of delivering unbridled brutality your way. This is for the maggots that have stood by us...prepare!"

As previously reported, a brand new SLIPKNOT track, entitled "Don't Get Close", will be featured in an upcoming Activision videogame, tentatively due in April. A slightly reworked version of the song is expected to appear on the upcoming CD, which is currently being recorded with producer Rick Rubin (SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLAYER, AUDIOSLAVE).

This cd is gonna be some outta this world sh+t. Slipknot is one of my favorite bands because of their different techniques in music. People who don't like them clearly don't know what their about. These people usually are the ones who listen to whats played on the radio, like boyband allstar Linkin park. Anyone can make a song like Linkin Park because their sh+t has no degree of complexity in it. But can anyone make a fast pace wierd sounding, heavy-riffing song like slipknot? Hell no. RadioplayBands like Linkin Park is about pop culture, exploiting rock music to pop culture, and selling records. Basically some fa**ot MTV sh+t. Slipknot is about bringing another form of life to rock music without intent of changing it. Album sales don't make a better band. Bands like Linkin Park are good pop/rap bands, not rock bands. Slipknot is the best example of a good rock band. Hands down...........LP=Sh+t
