METALLICA won a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 46th annual Grammy Awards, held on Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. METALLICA ("St. Anger") beat out such other "Metal" nominees as KORN ("Did My Time"), MARILYN MANSON ("mOBSCENE"), SPINESHANK ("Smothered") and STONE SOUR ("Inhale"). Also winning in the "Hard Rock Performance" category were EVANESCENCE ("Bring Me to Life"), who were chosen over such acts as AUDIOSLAVE ("Like a Stone"), GODSMACK ("Straight Out of Line"), JANE'S ADDICTION ("Just Because"), and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ("Go With the Flow"). EVANESCENCE also came out on top in the "Best New Artist" category, with singer Amy Lee and ex-EVANESCENCE guitarist Ben Moody making a surprising joint appearance to accept the award on live television.

Just because they're your favorite band dosen't make them the gods of heavy metal. Hell, Metallica from their first 5 albums... they're my favorite band, but from there on out every studio recording of all original material feels half-hearted and chock full of filler. St. Anger, to me, sounds like mindless Nu Metal, a trend that's unfortunetly gotten popular lately.

I have respect for Metallica because of their superior first four albums. But they need to retire of something, because their music seems to just get worst and worst. Their probably embarassed about their newest album because they seem to not want to play any songs from it live at concerts.
