The Rockstar Ramblings: Hacked Twitter Accounts

Band Photo: Guns N Roses (?)
A couple weeks ago someone (presumably with a great sense of humor) hacked into Axl Rose’s account and sent out a Tweet saying all the European shows were cancelled. Rose’s people quickly responded, noting that this was not true (despite this sounding EXACTLY like something Axl would do).
Lucky for us we were able to find a few other (alleged) Tweets sent out via (allegedly) hacked Twitter accounts. Enjoy…
RockOfLove23 (Bret Michaels): “I’m done with Reality TV! Awesome!”
TerribleTed666 (Ted Nugent): “Today I’m celebrating my 5th Anniversary of being a vegetarian”
OZmanO (Ozzy Osbourne): “Watch America’s got talent tonight at 8pm EST, PLEASE!!!” (hacked by wife of Ozzy, Sharon Osbourne)
Feelgoods123 (Vince Neil): “I’m smashed on Tequila and driving past Bally’s on S. Las Vegas Blvd, see if u can catch me” (actually, turns out this one was true)
StageDiverAero (Steven Tyler): “I’m doing American Idol!” (unfortunately, this one also turned out to be true)
W-A-R-new123 (Axl Rose’s new account): “Adler and I just talked it over and agreed to a GNR reunion” (hacked by former Guns N Roses drummer, Stevn Adler)
Stay_HungryDS (Dee Snider): “Dear my wife Suzette, your body is a wonderland” (hacked by one of Dee Snider’s children)
HereIGoAgain34 (David Coverdale): “I shaved my head today and it looks good”
AtomicPunkDLR (David Lee Roth): “Looking forward to spending a lot of time with Eddie!” (hacked by Alex Van Halen)
KISSarmy#1 (Gene Simmons): “I have nothing to promote, just wanted to say good morning.”

Good stuff!! Agreed, the Neil one was awesome.
Twitter. I can understand some celebrities have it, but regular everyday people.... ? What for? Who reads all that stuff? It's interesting, but out of all the people I know, the most egocentric ones are the ones who have twitter. Like anyone cares what happened in their lives 5 minutes ago?

branded, I think you're absolutely right. And it's definitely an international phenomenon, not just America.
Twitter is one of those things you "oh definitely" need to have these days to be "cool". I bet if there was a new site called "As$book" where people talk and post photos of their as$es, if it was considered as a cool site - which would probably be the case among teenagers - I bet they'd have millions and millions of users immediately.
What a bunch of sheep we are...

I never understood twitter for personal use really either. It's like a public version of facebook, which is ok if you are a blogger who wants to post topical updates on something. Or a celebrity who wants to be able to stay in the minds of their fans. But the mundane personal updates are annoying to me.
But because of its popularity on mobile devices, it's also grown into another way to subscribe to content. I use it on my ipod to catch up on a bunch of sites and people who I never get around to checking RSS for.
