Iron Maiden Likely To Top British Album Chart With "The Final Frontier"

British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden look set to top the album charts in their native country with their latest studio album, "The Final Frontier," which was released on August 16th through EMI and has already sold 22,000 copies, over three times more than their closest competitor Eminem. Should the album come out on top, it will be the band's first album to reach the number one position in Great Britain since 1992's "Fear Of The Dark."

Well you don't have to be mainstream to sell a lot of albums. I just assumed Iron Maiden was big enough in a smaller country to take the #1 fairly easily. You know it's not like here where you have so many millions of dipsh**s listening to Lady Gaga and Key$ha or whatever that popular rock bands can hardly reach the top anymore.
How many of the new albums that didn't get #1 were Bruce and how many were Blayze though?

I bought The Final Frontier today, pretty good album, but definitely not great. I guess this'll be an album that'll grow on me the more I listen to it, but as of so far, it's gotta be one of my least favorite albums (which isn't saying much because I LOVE EVERY Maiden album).
But hey, it's still Maiden and it's still awesome.

Nope. Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and all that sh**e always top the charts here. Not to mention all the "indie" bands that sell super well here. Metal isn't very big here at all, despite the festivals (I can think of Download, Sonisphere, Bloodstock and Damnation off the top of my head.) There's still 60 million people over here, and not a whole lot of them buy albums anymore, less still buy metal. I think the closest thing the UK has had to a metal album topping the charts was Limp Bizkit ten years ago.

iron maiden fvckin sucks....
and bloody goddamned England as well!
:)
seriously, UP THE FVCKING IRONS---and go ahead and wave yer feckin union jack, ya limey
though i trust Yukon Zac's review to be worryingly accurate, based on what i've heard in El Dorito, and the space blaster tune....didn't really sound too hot
to argue 'Bringer's suggestion, them dude's should definitely NOT hang it up, as they are still one of the fvcking best live acts anyone could hope to see, with tremendous energy and stellar musicianship, and great all time classic tunes....but you're right, the new material should be improved---or abandon altogether....maiden don't really NEED to record, eh?
what this sounds like so far is basically a fvcking parody of iron maiden cliches
the final frontier? ah well....perhaps

"The Final Frontier" is #1 here in Finland as of yesterday.
"Somewhere back in time" collection is #9. No other metal releases in top10 at the moment, unless you consider Avenged Sevenfold metal, and they're #6 with the quite appropriately titled latest release.
