As the tragic news of the death of heavy metal cornerstone Ronnie James Dio is sinking into the hearts of fans, many other musicians in the field of heavy metal and hard rock have posted messages online remembering the man and his music. Some more of which include the likes of Anthrax, Slash and even Dios Black Sabbath predacessor Ozzy Osbourne.
Ozzy Osbourne - "Rest in peace Ronnie"
Slash (Velvet Revolver, ex-Guns N' Roses): "Ronnie died at 7:45am this morning, but his music will live for eternity."
Anthrax: "Dio, Italian for God. Words won't do the man justice so we won't even try. Horns up always!"
Sebastian Bach: "Crying right now in remembrance of my hero and friend Ronnie James Dio. Dio died this morning and he was a major, major part of my life. I got to do shows with him and work with him and I loved Dio my whole life. Thanks so much the world has lost one of the best. Your last album was your best. Of course"
Ronny Munroe (former Metal Church singer): "R.J.D. The reason I stepped out from behind the kit was Ronnie James Dio's voice. There will never be another one like it, from soothingly melodic to down right gritty,he was and still is the inspiration for myself and millions of other singers around the world. He may be gone but his legacy remains, and what a stellar one it is... R.I.P Ronnie and Thank You!"
Queensryche: "Ronnie James Dio was undoubtedly one of heavy metal's greatest performers and will continue to influence the world of heavy metal forever. He was certainly a very big influence on Queensryche and along the way became a cherished friend too. We will all miss him greatly, but Ronnie will live on every time we raise our metal horns high! The man on the silver mountain will always be our rainbow in the dark."
David Ellefeson (Megadeth): "He was truly one of the 'good guys' in this business and a consummate pro, someone we can all take a cue and learn from. We are all fans of his and he did many great things for Megadeth and its members, starting starting as far back as his Dream Evil North American tour in which we were the support band during the So Far, So Good...So What tour. I'm very thankful to have gotten to know and tour with him in both Megadeth and with Tim "Ripper" Owens. Wendy Dio looked after Ripper's European tour where we played several shows with Heaven & Hell and we got to have many good moments with Ronnie during that tour. He is missed by us all. Our prayers go out to him and his family at this time. Long Live Ronnie James Dio."
Immortal: "Today is a heavy day, as we mourn the passing of the mighty Ronnie James Dio."
Twisted Sister: "The members of Twisted Sister along with millions of metal fans around the world mourn the death of our friend Ronnie James Dio. Ronnie not only was a giant in the world wide metal scene, but he was also one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Beginning in 1983 when we first toured with Ronnie in Canada, and continuing over the last 7 years when we played dozens of festivals around the world, Ronnie was one of the most supportive and gracious members of the music community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Wendy and Ronnie's family."

Dio was one of the best rock singers around if not the best.
His power and presence on stage was truly remarkable. When i first saw the reunited Heaven and Hell tour, i couldn't believe his command on stage. Children of the Sea, Lady Evil, Sign of the Southern Cross.....man, goose bumps just thinking about it.
His days with Rainbow and as Dio we part of my growing up and inspiration to play music.
RIP. You will truly be missed but remembered.

What could be more sad, and tragic than the passing of the most polite and positive stars to ever shine upon the world known as the "Large Arena Metal Tour" than the failure of every news site that I saw today not knowing, caring, or that the price of digital ink is so expensive that they can not seem to print the complete & short history the media is giving this.
Ronnie did not replace John "Ozzy" in Black Sabbath. Ronnie replaced Ian Gillian of Black Sabbath after the Born Again album and world tour. AND Ronnie replaced Ian Gillian in Deep Purple and that became Rainbow. R.J.D. needs no sensationalism, Sabbath had more than 2 vocalist
Let fox news or who ever else run with what the editor has decided that is important news history. On a site like this that is for the people that live, & love Metal, share the full and un censored history & honor that Ronnie Dio and all Rock / Metal champions have given us all so much of.

I think you've got your history mixed up there fella. Ronnie very defintely replaced Ozzy in Sabbath and it was Gillain who replaced Dio, though the collaboration was not originally meant to be called Black Sabbath. Dio was also never a member of Deep Purple. He was in the first lineup of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, which originally was just Ritchie Blackmore plus Elf, Ronnie's band at the time. Deep Purple continued without Blackmore and ran alongside Rainbow if my memory serves me right.
