Nine Inch Nails Frontman Trent Reznor Issues Update

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has issued the following update:
"Happy holidays everyone and thank you for an exceptional year! Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I've been working on not working for a couple of months, which for me is hard work. 2010 has a number of things planned including new material from nine inch nails and something else that isn't nine inch nails. I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need."
"In the meantime, here are some miscellaneous performances from 2009."

I like the way Reznor is using the net as a way to communicate, instead of doing the Dave Mustaine "me me me and more me" thing. "this is whats up, plus here´s a few live clips".
Good stuff, Trent (without sarcam for once)
Btw, does anyone care is Obama is a muslim? J Edgar Hoover was a crossdresser. So what. None of my business
Diamond Oz - my understanding is that Trent was putting NIN on the "back burner" for some time but, I never got the impression it was over. I am just surprised that it was only less than a year. BlindGreed1 keeps up with this stuff pretty good, maybe he can shed some insight to it.
Bah, I'm probably wrong. He definitely said he was done touring the US though. But what good is an album release without a subsequent tour? Especially if he's allowing downloads like the previous albums... I suppose he's not the most conventional musician. I'm pretty sure he was shaved when I saw 'em in '06... he had the short hair this past summer tour with JA. For the record, their farewell tour was kind of weak...
His messages definitely suggested some sort of hiatus - something more than 2 months off - especially with his "farewell" tour dates, etc. But I knew he'd be back anyway. If not for the money, then just because Trent's a creative person who needs an outlet for that creativity. Just didn't expect to hear about new NIN material so soon.
