It is now official that a live action adaptation of Danzig's "Satanika" will be made. A posting from Glen Danzig reads as follows:
"Didn't want to say anything until it was official but we can announce here that the Satanika live action movie is indeed a go! It will be directed by Thomas Mignone whose critically acclaimed film On The Doll drew rave reactions all over the globe and will be based on the Verotik comic series written by Glenn Danzig."

Well, I'm on the fence about this one. I've been a fan of Glenn's music for years and still kinda respect him as a musician (despite the North Side Kings video, thats a whole different ball of wax) but I've always seen Verotik's comics as an excuse to forego good writing in favor of tits and gore. I like a nice visceral eye-fest every once in a while, but doubt this has the chops to become a well realized movie. I foresee another "Blood Rayne". Still, I won't say I haven't been pleasantly surprised in the past. Guess we'll have to see...

From the Misfits through Samhain to present day, Danzig has been a force in the face of heavy music. Have I liked EVERYthing he's put out? Nope. But I have to say I'm pleased to see him moving into the medium of film, even though like Netromancer I have my doubts about the quality of the story. But, hey, some good old fashion violence and t n' a never hurt any one. Long live Evil Elvis!
