A spokesperson for HMV states: "We were advised yesterday by the label that because it's been leaked quite heavily, they should bring forward its physical release and allow retailers to merchandise it. That was the communication we received and we've responded to that. I'd imagine it's a similar picture across the whole of retail"

They did the same thing when St. Anger was released. Once the album has been distributed through warehouses and into retail stores, waiting in a box to be put on the shelf, it's pretty much impossible to keep from someone getting a hold of it and starting the upload chain. With a release of this magnitude, it's not going to be long before it's been downloaded thousands upon thousands of times. No matter, though. It will still sell well.
