Machine Head Guitarist Phil Demmel Collapses On Stage

Band Photo: Machine Head (?)
Machine Head has posted the following update via their official website:
"As has been reported in the media, Phil Demmel did indeed collapse onstage during Machine Head's second-to-last song Sunday night in Bristow, VA. Demmel was severely dehydrated and had mentioned several times to his tech that he felt lightheaded during the show.
Says drummer Dave McClain, "That was a scary moment for all of us. Seeing your friend collapse like that is something that nobody wants to experience. He's doing much better now and taking it easy on the bus."
"Machine Head wish to extend our gratitude to the good people of Bristow, VA. for their support and for being so understanding at the end of our show. Machine Head are still set to perform with Demmel at the last Mayhem stop in Darien Lake, NY."

I saw this happen. The band was going at it all typical awesome-style and next thing I know (I'm looking at the bassist), he stops playing, the drummer leaps off to the side of his seat and EMS suddenly rushes to the left (my left) side of the state.
There was no visible indication that he was feeling ill, dehydrated... what have you. The crowd cheered when it was apparent that he was ok, the rest of the band thanked the crowd for their support, crowd started the obligatory "machine-f***ing-head" and then everyone just tapered off.
Gotta love 'em, they push on even if they're not feeling too hot. Damn Virginia sun.

Wow! Good to see it wasn't to serious, but musician's need to take care of their health for their own sake and that of the fans. Not everyone's a Keith Richards! Get better Phil.
