Blabbermouth.net reports: SCARS ON BROADWAY — the new band led by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan — sold just under 24,000 copies of its self-titled debut album in the United States during its first week of release to debut at position No. 17 on The Billboard 200 chart. This number represents roughly 36 percent of the 66,000 opening tally registered by "Elect the Dead", the debut solo effort from SYSTEM lead singer Serj Tankian, which came out last fall through the Warner Music Group.

SCARS ON BROADWAY will launch its first headlining tour of North America in October. Exact dates and venues have yet to be determined.

Both SCARS ON BROADWAY and SYSTEM lead singer Serj Tankian declined to release their latest projects through Columbia Records, where SYSTEM has been signed since 1998.

Well now that everybody has all they're solo sh** released and succeding, perhaps they can get over their ego's and get back together as the almighty SOAD? The old one too, because that's just preferrable to their last albums, but I'll take whatever.

yeah im in total agreement. SOAD self titled album kicks a$$ along with toxicity. mezmerize and hypnotize were OKAY but nowhere near as good as the old stuff. im sort of hesitant about scars on broadway cos i cant really stand darons voice, its too nasaly and whiney for me. thats why i love the old SOAD as serj was singer, daron was guitars and BACKUP vocals. the latest albums serj was almost backup vocals and daron was guitars AND main vocals. if SOAD brings out a newie, hopefully it will go back to the good old days and not just have daron playing EVERYTHING!!!!

if anyone has heard this album could you please tell me what its like and whether or not its worth spending my hard earned cash on?

ps i liked elect the dead, i thought it was fantastic and i think serj is nearly 40???

Actually, Serj was born August 21, 1967. Daron's voice gets on my nerves, Serj's voices is much more powerful. Would like to see another SOAD album, but can't see it happening.

Serj's solo songs that ive heard are annoying. Scars on broadway are tolerable. other than the system debut which was ok, i really don't care for the rest.

Actually SoB sounds more like SOAD than Serj's solo stuff....I dig the hyperactivity that daron brings to the table..The most annoying thing about Serj's voice is that he goes really off-key sometimes..Although his honest, spontaneous delivery gets him through. I really want SOAD to kick a$$ again!!

amen to that brother (SOAD to kick a$$ again). the reason serj can get such off-key sounding vocals is cos his father was an armenian folk singer so it was passed down i guess. i love serj more than daron simply cos i think he has the better voice and he never tried to do anything more than just sing (although he did play a bit of guitar when i saw them a few years back), daron on the other hand cannot sing yet decided it would be a good idea to take over most of the vocals in the newer albums AND do a majority of the guitars. which is why i dont like mezmerize and hypnotize as much as their older stuff. post #7, i knew he was nearly 40 or in his 40s, cheers for that man.
