Metallica Still Not Signed On For Guitar Hero Yet

Billboard.com reports: Although rumors continue to buzz, Metallica and the Beatles aren't headed to the "Guitar Hero" franchise just yet, according to Kai and Charles Huang, the sibling founder of game publisher RedOctane.
Speculation abounds that Metallica will be the next band featured in their own version of "Guitar Hero," much like the just-released recent Aerosmith-centric game.
"We're not ready to comment about Metallica yet, but what I will say is that we'd love to work with all of the top rock bands of all time, whether it's Aerosmith or Metallica or AC/DC or Led Zeppelin," Kai Huang tells Billboard. "If we get an opportunity to work with those bands, we would love to do that."

Sounds pretty cool if there going to release individual band versions
how bout Decapitated, necrophagist or nile guitar hero
why not go something a little more marketable and do one for a 60's classics one with the yardbirds the who rolling stones ect ect
The list is endless really i just hope they dont bring out a tragic 80's one but with new age stuff..althou playing cars by gary newman would be pretty funny as would some duran duran.

It's interesting that, although they claim to not being ready to comment on Guitar Hero: Metallica, Activision (who owns the franchise, as far as I can tell) confirmed it last month. Just google for "guitar hero metallica confirmed activision" and you'll see a slew of news articles about it.

Not everyone is gifted with the talent to play music, and even if they are there's chances they're not gifted with the talent to perform it. Video games are cheaper, easier, and you don't have to go through the drama of being in a band or the compulsion of caring for your equipment.

A metallica guitar hero would be fu**in awesome. I would definetly buy that s**t. It would be awesome to play some of the solo songs(the call of ktulu, orion, etc.) as well as the other kick a** songs off my favorite albums (kill 'em all, master of puppets, ride the lightning, ...and justice for all). That would be killer!!

FocusShift, I understand that, it's just that I would hate to see people who actually are musical, to miss out on that because they're playing guitar hero. My only point is that it's clear to everyone that Guitar hero has little to do with actual guitar playing. There's a little bit of rythm involved but that's practically it. If that's clear than hey, enjoy your game.

Personally, Metallica, Led Zepp, and The Beatles are some of the only bands with a catalogue of good songs big enough to fill up a GH game properly. Aerosmith was a horrible start for this type of game imo.
I'll defend GH only for the fact that's it's a good party game. when you're drinking with a bunch of buddies and you want some tunes, but also something to keep the drunks busy and entertained, Guitar Hero is the way to go. Plus, it's fun to be a douchebag, jumping all over the place and just being a laugh. Other than that, I say...f*** Dragonforce, unlike all the other kids who discovered them through GH3, I've been a hating to them for years.
(Let's hear it for Meshuggah Rock Band edition! )

f***_A_Name, I couldn't agree more with with your post nr 20.
F.u.c.k. dragonforce (or Dragonwhores as I like to call 'm)!!!!!!, and seeing as I'm too big a fan of meshuggah, I would support a Meshuggah rock band edition (or whatever:P) just to see the faces of those guys playing the game going " What the F is this? I don't get this!":P
I'll join the hype:
Now playing: Textures - Old days born anew

A Metallica one I can see, but AC/DC? Come on, all the songs would be the same.
