Guitar Hero III Adds "Modern Metal Track Pack" Featuring Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold and Thrice

Band Photo: Avenged Sevenfold (?)
Just a week after it's last update (a batch of No Doubt tunes) Guitar Hero III is getting another song pack. This time, it's the "Modern Metal Track Pack," featuring master tracks of Deftones' "Hole in the Earth," Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy" and Thrice's "The Arsonist." As you've come to expect, the three songs will cost you 500 points ($6.25).
Just in time for St. Patricks Day will be a free three-song pack from from Dropkick Murphys, master tracks of "Famous for Nothing," "(F)lannigan's Ball" and "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya."

Oh the subjectivity...hard to make gay music gayer. Anyone got a suggestion for a 3 song pack of "modern metal?" Not that I play Dance Dance Revolution for the hands. Anyhoo, I got Dark Tranquillity "Focus Shift," Megadeth "Play for blood," Opeth "Beneath the mire."

Why those queer songs? Something realistic that they should add should be Anthrax: Among the Living, Pantera: Five Minutes Alone or Rise, and Testament: Practice What You Preach. If you're going for modern metal than Machine Head: Halo, Imperium, or Aesthetics of Hate, Down- On March the Saints, Dream Theater- Forsaken, or anything from the new Trouble cd.
Now Playing: Von- Watain

I gotta say, at first I was excited about guitar hero, since it would actually promote metal for once, but god...I'm sick of people telling me Raining Blood is a good song because it was on Guitar Hero, not because it was the first of it's genre and REVOLUTIONARY.

Draining floods, shut up until you can actually use good grammar your self! To the others that have corrected me with decent grammer and info, will admit that I have gotten that confused before. Oops! Second time is usually the charm for me. In any event Slayer in general would have been a far better choice. I still cant choose what my three would be. There is a ton of new bands out that would be great. Most underground, but way better than what they chose!

What is the deal with everyone liking Down??? They aren't metal, and without Dimebag as support, Phil Anselmo is a sellout. Anyways, I here that "Blinded By Fear" by At The Gates is coming out on Rock Band, and for guitar hero I would love to see a Modern Metal 3 Pack of "Deathbringer From The Sky" by Ensiferum, "Constant Motion" by Dream Theatre, and "The Forest King" by 3 Inches Of Blood, I think those 3 would be really fun to play.

Hi Kalis_wrath, Fine - thanks for asking - though if you are familiar with the Quebec/montreal weather We keep on getting dumped with major snow falls EVERY week and my snow blower just kicked out on me - we have snow banks that are about 10 feet high - when you drive down my street you can't see the houses - only walls of snow - i literally have to search for my house/driveway when coming home everytime. Aside from being richly blessed with the white stuff from heaven lolll everthings fine - just not much articles of interest these days. And youself Kalis_wrath, how have you been? Just the thought of you poking my small belly brings a chuckle to my face ;-)
now playing : ''Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow'' - Frank Sinatra

Hahahaha! That would suck to walk into the wrong house at the wrong time if you know what I mean! I am doing well for it being a Monday. Woke up with an unexpaliable heartburn, but alas tums to my rescue! I am lookin forward to this week. Getting alot done this week including my taxes. Once that is done a big huge weight will be off me.

To post 22 - what an ignorant statement....yes - Down may not be metal but it is good. It is great because it has Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity, Kirk Weinstein from Crowbar, and Phil Aslemo on vocals.... Dimebag is dead man...it was a tragedy, but DB is not the greatest guitarist in the world. I love Down so much, that album is on constant rotation. Down is metal to me - by the way - it is classified as STONER METAL>...get a clue, dude. You probably haven't even listened to Corrosion of Conformity or Crowbar.

gh3 obviously doesnt know sh** about "modern metal" (and judging by some of these posts neither do about 60 percent of the people on this site :-P...)
why dont they do a black metal pack? get some mayhem in there dammit "freezing moon" and "funeral fog"...."wound upon wound" and "procreating satan" by gorgoroth would be so much fun to play too. those songs rip.
and what about some good grind? gadget, pig destroyer, some nasum, a little bit of rotten sound, napalm death...if only... ::sigh::

Dawsvnn, the reason they haven't released a black metal pack in Guitar Hero 3 is because anyone on Earth can hold down all five buttons and flick the strum bar back and forth as hard as they can. I really couldn't imagine it being anything more than boring. The only reason you'd fail the songs is because your wrist would give out.

Yeah, this is just what I want........a couple more faggish songs in my game. Atleats they aren't trying to throw some "real" metal into the game so the mainstream masses can start thinking they're BRUTAL listening to that. GH is for the mainstream and will never have the songs I want. Rock Band just got At The Gates' "Blinded By Fear" and now I'm jealous. Mainly because I don't get to do crazy vocals on that and that Rock Band actually has songs that are GOOD. Why can't Guitar Hero 3 get that? "Take This Life"? As much as I LOVE In Flames, I think they could've put something a lot better. Hell throw an instrumental track in there since the game is based around awesome guitar. Preferrably, "Man Made God".
