Modern Life Is War Call It Quits, Plan Final Tour

Iowa’s MODERN LIFE IS WAR have posted the following update:

“MODERN LIFE IS WAR will be doing one final tour from March 29th to April 26th. Our last show ever will be April 26th in Marshalltown, Iowa. There is no disaster or dramatic situation behind the break-up. All past and current members of the band are still good friends and there is no bad blood. We just feel like it’s the right time and would rather end things on our own terms than let our band become a ghost of what it was in the beginning or to be ripped apart by outside forces."

"Our first show was on April 20th, 2002 in Tyler’s parents basement. This makes our run as a band almost exactly six years. We want to send a huge thank you out to everyone who supported this band through thick and thin because you care about us as individuals, our music, our message or what we stand for as a band. We also want to thank all the people in the DIY/underground hardcore and punk scenes all over the country and world who work really hard and sacrifice a lot for little to no recognition or money because they love the music and message. I am really proud of all that we have accomplished but know that without the support of that community we would have never had a chance to tour and put out records for so many years. I don’t want to get sentimental and there is no short way of wrapping up all my feelings about this band and these last six years. Above all…I hope we have made some people feel less alone and motivated them to think for themselves, be themselves and take action. Punk rock changed our lives. I hope we contributed something to keep the whole thing going. We are leaving soon…but The future is unwritten…so start writing it. Tour dates will be posted soon. Come sweat and scream and say goodbye to MODERN LIFE IS WAR.”

Their band name should be "Modern Life Is War Is A Band Nobody Has Ever Heard Of" and the story title should be "CLICK HERE TO SEE WHO CARES THE LEAST ABOUT MODERN LIFE IS WAR IS A BAND NOBODY HAS EVER HEARD OF" because then they could have one of those gay acronyms for a band name, instead of the actual name, like BRMC, or FBTMOF, or COB, or 3IOB, or 36CF, or ETID, only it would be MLIWIABNHEHO.

Good riddance. Underground music is bad enough without 75% of it sniffing total b@lls, like it does.

CTJJ - too bad you never heard of them, but I'm always surprised to see news about hardcore bands show up on a site for "metal news". Oh well, they were a pretty intense band to see live.

i'm not surprised to hear that they are packing it in. i really liked "My Love, My Way" and saw them a couple of times and enjoyed their live show immensely. i thought that their last release, "Midnight In America" was kind of weak. oh well...

My favorite song of theirs was "Asscrack Boss" from the Yonder We March 7". I also liked "Fart On My Lap" and "Touching Grandma" from the Burnt Strudel EP.

ctjj, I have personally never heard of them but hardcore isnt too bad. I just think that whatever the hell ctjj likes, they can stop giving hardcore a bad name. Ctjj has something shoved so far up their a$$ that it's comming out of their ears and they cant hear good music. (or music period)

Judging by the contributions made by "CrawfordTexasJingoJango" it clearly shows he is an ignorant f*** that doesn't have any scope on good music. This is the trouble with people like him there so deprived with there Fox News, that they shouldn't be allowed to comment in civilized postings like this. Modern Life Is War were a decent band on the Deathwish label run by the vocalist of Converge. As you commented about how lacking the Hardcore scene is what you need to do, you f***ing middle American is pull your head out of your a$$ and listen to Converge's Jane Doe.

MLIW and Converge both jack off old men. You should listen to better music and not get mad at people who have normal attention spans and can't put up with pretentious hardcore crap.

They're pretentious??! You're the one bombarding a forum with such a snobby view of any music that differs from your own. Don't judge at the end of the day. You clearly know bugger all about hardcore and to brand an ENTIRE genre as 'crap' is completely narrow-minded and bigotted. I'm glad you don't like hardcore, it's arseholes like you who ruin shows.
MLIW are amazing and this is sad news.

Hey, yettery, using terms like "bugger-all" and "arsehole" just exposes you for the limey retard you are. Especially, if you like MLIW.

...and I think the MUSIC would ruin a hardcore show WAY BEFORE I would get a chance to, especially since you wouldn't catch me dead at a hardcore show. You might as well go to a gay bar!
