METALLICA will perform a concert at an old fortress (Koengen) in Bergen, Norway on July 16. The group's schedule is now shaping up as follows:
May 28 - Chorzow, Poland - Slaski Stadium
May 30 - Landgraaf, Netherlands - Pinkpop
May 31 - Madrid, Spain - Electric Weekend
Jun. 03 - Prague, Czech Republic - Slavia Stadium
Jun. 05 - Lisbon, Portugal - Rock In Rio Lisboa
Jun. 07 - Nürburgring, Germany - Rock Am Ring
Jun. 08 - Nürnberg, Germany - Rock Im Park
Jul. 16 – Bergen, Norway - Koengen
MetClub, the official METALLICA fan club web site, yesterday sent the following e-mail to its members:
"Hopefully you all know by now, the boys will be heading back to Europe this summer... Just a friendly 'heads up' that a few more shows are coming your way as we're getting ready to announce dates on the second part of their summer vacation. Most of these shows will have pre-sales for Clubbers only, so keep watching MetClub for more details. As for you Americans who have been having a good moan, we'll have a little something for you next week. No more hints for now..."
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently spoke with Revolver magazine about the band's ninth studio album, which is expected out later this year and will be its first all-new effort since 2003's "St. Anger". Ulrich told the magazine that the group's new material "is certainly a lot more dynamic and a lot more varied than the last couple of go-rounds," adding, "There's a lot of light and shade in these songs. There's heavy, fast, nutty stuff, and then there's some slowdowns and musical interludes." Ulrich also said that the album has more in common with some of the group's '80s releases than more recent offerings like "St. Anger" and "Load".
Ulrich wouldn't agree that the yet-to-be-titled disc is a full-blown return to the past, saying, "I hate to be that specific, because six months from now people are gonna go, 'What the fuck? Lars lied to us!' But it feels that way to me."
The drummer also revealed that producer Rick Rubin, working with the band for the first time, wanted METALLICA to use classic efforts like "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" as "reference points" for its new songs.
There's no word yet on an exact release date for the new METALLICA CD, although a summer release is likely.

If they were so bad, how come they're statistically and otherwise the biggest metal band in the world?
Also, if you guys hate Metallica so much, why are you reading articles on them?
we read the articles to keep seeing that your so called metal rulers are just a bunch of old has beens who can only stay in the limelight by talkin all kinds of stuff, that really means nothing to the masses who hate fag-tallica. so, we, fagtallica haters, love to show how these fuktards have lost the legions of fans, and trapped in the brain dead sheeple with horrible, trendy a$$ music that sucks whale sh1t!!!!

all i have too say is 80's metallica rocked....but there new cds suck so anyone who thinks metallica is the best metal band in the world is dumb....they sold out after the 80's thats how there so big...any band that sells out can be BIG duh. and theres better 80's metal too but still gotta like metallica's old stuff like SLAYER white zombie pantera..all good 80's music and slayer still making music but isnt sell out like metallica.

What the f*** is wrong with you people? Sure its been a long time since they've released an album but it'll be worth it. I've heard some of the tracks and their pretty sick. So leave them the f*** alone, especially Lars. Metallica is the greatest. So f*** all the negative sh**bags who are commenting that Lars sucks and the album sucks.

I actually look forward to hear what Metallica will come up with Rubin. If it would be some pointless crap then they're better off trying to fool someone else. Rick Rubin doesn't f*** around. There must be a reason he's been working with Metallica for this long now, and I for one am curious to hear what it is.

why don't the site moderators delete all the crap you people waffle on about??? each to their own music eh? and build some tolerance for what you don't like!!!, i hated metallica in 1988 when all my mates were listening to it, but that changed. Compared to whats available today (with the exception of systems and disturbed) i think they are STILL grouse! you just don't hear bands like it anymore, most new stuff is engineered to reach a mainstream radio audience, nothing alternative about it now...metallica rock!!! when are you coming to new zealand?!?!?!?!?!

It's been fun reading your "opinions". Well, life is hard and then you die. I'd rather enjoy the album when it is released and listen to something else while waiting. If your favourite band is greater than anyone elses, go tell that band, they need your support. I know it's tough to be open minded and hearted but you should try, might live longer... All have fun and enjoy! And hey, let's be careful out there. And play it loud as a f**k!

Hey branded Lamb of God f***in rule you fa**ot!! I agree with Demon, they should stop touring and finish the damn cd. It was supposed to be out right now, but the f***ing wait continues
i never said lamb of god sucked...i actually like L.O.G. so wtf is your trip on me?????

By "dynamic" Lars means that it's going to suck in all sorts of directions.
