Motorhead Mainman Lemmy Speaks On Popularity

Classic Rock Revisited has issued an interview with MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister. An excerpt from the interview, conducted by Jeb Wright, follows...
Q: Motörhead has inspired bands like METALLICA and GUNS N' ROSES. Is it nice when they tip the hat to you and give you credit?
A: "It is nice when they acknowledge you. Metallica recorded four of our songs on the Garage album - that was a handy little paycheck. Motörhead never had a hit record in the States; we never even hit the Top 100."
Q: Does it bother you that Metallica went on to fame and fortune to a level Motörhead didn't?
A: "It is just the luck of the draw; it is just that simple. You have to be in the right place at the right time. We were too late for the first British Invasion and too early for the second one."
Q: You have become more popular as Lemmy in America than Motörhead.
A: "I'm grateful for what I've got; I'm not complaining. I think I have become popular because I don't let people down. The worst thing is to admire someone and then have them let you down; that's awful. You meet someone who you think is going to be excellent and they end up being a complete fucking asshole."

I love Lemmy for the metal god he is. I thought it was funny when he said he does not get much tail on the road. My first thought as a woman was: Man, its the moles! I am sure they got voodoo powers that make you rock musicly or something, but DAMN! Those things are not exactly um... attractive. *lol* To me he is more lengendary and more of a man all by himself than GNR and sh**tallica will ever hope to be!

Lemmy's a rare breed. He's maybe not as technically proficient in playing bass as Cliff or Flea, but his balls-out, all-cards-on-the-table playing is classic! I heard he's not too keen on using special effects, and instead relies on a good, old-fashioned, full-volume attack. Sweet!
