P.O.D. Singer Explains New Album Title
A two-minute video clip of P.O.D. (a.k.a. PAYABLE ON DEATH) vocalist Sonny Sandoval explaining the meaning behind the title of the group's upcoming album, "When Angels & Serpents Dance", can be viewed below.
P.O.D. will release "When Angels & Serpents Dance" on April 8 via INO/Columbia Records. The CD was helmed by Jay Baumgardner (EVANESCENCE, HELMET, ORGY, SEETHER, PAPA ROACH, ALIEN ANT FARM, GODSMACK) and features a guest appearance by SUICIDAL TENDENCIES frontman Mike Muir.
"Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years", P.O.D.'s final release through Atlantic Records, arrived in stores in November 2006.
P.O.D. vocalist Sonny Sandoval recently launched a new label called Deadworld Records and is currently seeking submissions from artists. Sonny says, "Any genre is acceptable, as long as you're serious and dedicated musicians that love what you do. My crew and I will go over all the submissions personally."

POD's Satellite was one of my favorite CDs the year it came out (1985), but I haven't liked an album before or after that one. I could care less that they're still around. The only aspect I like about the new album is that Marcos Curiel is playing again. I always hated the preachy Jah crap, but Marcos is pretty badass for a fat mythology worshipper.

Living Sacrifice was probebly the best christian metal band ever. some of the heaviest stuff i've ever heard from a christian group (the 1992-1996 material). too bad they broke up. but yeah people shouldnt hate a group just cause of their religion. if you think it's too preachy, then dont listen to it. to each his own. not everything has to be dark and hopeless to be brutal and badass

i think i can answer that one 'saved by Jesus Christ's Blood' ... i myself am a christian and am trying to figure out bands like 'as i lay dying' or 'POD' or even Dave Mustaine himself - why is the message so 'hidden' ? why not come strait out and say '' Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior'' - a DIRECT message instead of an ''INdirect'' message....the only reason why i can see this happening is for ''commercial'' reasons - today its not 'COOL' to be a christian so if a 'christian band' wants to hit the secular market they must have a 'diluted' (watered down) message - NOW the 'motive' for such a strategy ONLY GOD knows - if they are doing this to reach more people then fine....but if they are doing this for $$$ reasons or just plain afraid that being 'openly' christian will hurt their popularity GOD will judge - one thing forsure - JESUS said ''But whosoever shall deny ME before men, him will I also deny before my FATHER which is in heaven.'' matthew 10:33

I think they don't use the Christian message so directly because they know people don't wanna hear metal (rock, whatever you wanna call it) being used that way and they don't wanna hear strong religious messages of any kind in music. It's not so much about popularity as it is pissing people off... if that makes sense.

To Post 18, if you read the lyrics for ANY AS I LAY DYING song, if you changed the musical arrangements ALL of them would be acceptable to be sang in church. No hidden messages with them, but P.O.D. I can understand, they really aren't a "christian" band anymore. I have met the memebers in AILD and they are positive christian dudes off stage as well. But seriously, AILD songs look like they should be in Hymn books, hahahahha!!!! (I love their music though, they are one of the best live acts out there)

Hi Andrew - i have only one cd of as i lay dying (their latest) and no where in the lyrics does it mention the name of our Lord Jesus - remember that the Bible is very explicit on ''in the name of Jesus'' and ''there is no other name under heaven''....look, it's just my opinion but i really believe that christian bands should have at least some songs that name the name of Jesus and make mention of the gospel CLEARLY...i mean, let's face it, this is what makes a band Christian....if you take Jesus out of the christianity then there is NO christianity...if you take the Blood and Hell out of the gospel then you don't have a gospel...thats the way i see it.
