Ex-Megadeth Guitarist Glenn Drover Explains Departure

Guitarist Glenn Drover has delivered the following official statement in regards to his departure from MEGADETH:
"I am aware of the rumors that I left Megadeth to focus on family life. My family life has always been my priority.
"In the end, I was unhappy with the situation, which magnified me wanting to spend more time with my family and realizing that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in my musical career. First, I want to spend some good quality time here at home with my family for a little bit before getting into anything serious.
"Obviously, I have not spent the last several years of my life working hard to stop now.
"That would be insane, to put it mildly. This is what I do, and I am excited about what the future in music has in store for me.
"I would like to thank Dave (Mustaine) for giving me a great opportunity to be a part of Megadeth for the past 3 + years. To be a part of this band with my brother (drummer) Shawn (Drover) and tour the world, was awesome to say the least!
"I have a lot of great memories and met a ton of great people along the way, both fans and people in the industry. I am also very proud to have been a part of bringing Megadeth back to the forefront and firmly putting the band back on the map!
"Last but not least, I would like to thank all of the fans, the Megadeth road crew and all of my endorsements, as well as everyone who has supported me in making my time with Megadeth a very memorable experience!
Glen Drover."
As previously reported, Megadeth has officially welcomed new guitarist Chris Broderick (NEVERMORE, JAG PANZER).
"I've noticed [on the Internet] that people are pissed with me over the way things were handled with Glen quitting the group," says Mustaine, "but they're gonna be pissed even more when they hear how fierce we are with Chris! Megadeth is playing at a new level."
Broderick will make his live debut with Megadeth February 4th in Finland, where the group--guitarist/singer Mustaine, guitarist Broderick, drummer Shawn Drover and James Lomenzo on bass - is kicking off a long string of international dates which wrap March 14th in Bangalore, India.

Well Ladies and Gents atleast he has a good reason for leaving Megadeth. I support him and wish him the best. Dont get me wrong, I am sad to see him go too. I am sure it was not an easy choice to make, but family should be number one whether you are male or female.

Another lineup change? How unsurprising. This queer couldn't play the spanish solo from Holy Wars, anyways. I agree with earlier post. Good riddance. Now if they only could get Friedman again, he'd be on the right track, but until Mustaine can find a way to put his moral constraints and his religious beliefs aside instead of trying to fit them into his music (read: business) he's going to continue to alienate his fanbase. It's not the lineup changes that makes old fans disappear. It's how preachy and self-righteous he's been and it's warding a lot of us off. Actually I could totally do without megadeth now.

I never really got attached to Glen and I really don't like his brother's drumming. Since Nick/Marty/ and Junior left the band, Dave's hired a bunch of session players from obscure "heavy" rock bands, this Nevermore guy might be a step in the right direction. I mean White Lion? WTF
I've seen every lineup and I think the Nick/Marty/ and Junior lineup was the best, but lately Dave has been better than ever before(especially his voice)
Although I think if Dave hired some "real" metal musicians, the band would be back where we feel in love.

glen drover? who? bring on somebody else, i have no problem with that. him and his leather pants can get lost. i just checked out this other guitar player they brought in, chris, doesn't look too shabby. i agree that friedman should get the hell out of japan and back in the band that made him popular in the first place. anyone listened to his latest solo album? it's freakin bad ass, almost fits united abominations to a tee. bring back marty.

I think Glen did a good job... His solos were much better than Al Pitrelli.
The only thing that bother me was that his performances were too stiff and I really hate the leather pants..
Maybe Dave should employ those with real stage performance like Jake E Lee, Viv Campbell or even Warren De Martini...
Chris Broderick is a real good player anyway....
If only Malmsteen joined Megadeth, then we'd see some stage performances (and egos) :)

Well the last two shows of Glenn I thought were good ones. Marty will never play again with Dave, he's too busy wanting to be
huge in Japan. Junior you can forget about. I'm sure him an Dave aren't on speaking terms after that law-suit. And Nick, sorry but I
never thought he was all that. I'm sure he would have never been able to cut it in Slayer. There's only one, Lombardo!!! Now, Chris might be great but I've never got into Nevermore, ever.... Even when they were Sanctuary back in the 80's. But I agree that the White Lion bass player doesn't really fit the bill of METAL since they were a Van-Wannabe-chicky-rock band, even if, the drummer of that band was in the early forms of Anthrax you'd never know it from his drumming compared to Charlie's who is a monster. Maybe that's who should be doing the drumming in the studio for Dave. Hmmm?/??? Where's f-ing Paul Glibert, when you need him too?
