Metallica To Give "Rock Band" First Single From New Album

1UP.com has issued the following report from Kris Pigna:
It seems all we talk about these days is Rock Band this or Rock Band that, but truth be told, when there's so much exciting news circulating the game it's hard not to. The latest comes from a story in the Rocky Mountain News, written by a Kotaku writer who expands on the material in a posting. One subject that got cut, oddly enough, is the most intriguing: the possibility of a Rock Band television show.
Paul DeGooyer, MTV's senior vice president of home entertainment, was interviewed for the story, and said that while a Rock Band-themed show on MTV isn't currently in the works, it's not something that hasn't been considered. "The risk is that a show would be put together that's not very good," DeGooyer said. "We need the right concept, one that looks at how gamers engage with the game. There really isn't this impetus to put the wrong show up. The game speaks for itself."
DeGooyer also spoke of what MTV and Harmonix intend for weekly downloadable song releases, specifically plans to debut new music exclusively on Rock Band -- and one of the first could be a doozy. "There are a couple of things we've committed to, one of them with METALLICA for example," DeGooyer said. "They've reserved the right to give us their first single from their new album for the game." Metal.

Great, a tv show wherein you watch people play video games. Sounds like a winner right there, then they reserve the right to a crappy sell-out band's first single to a copy-cat game. Like watching grass grow, only with fat and lazy blades of grass, filled with their own delusions of grandeur... Wonder how much they paid to reserve Metallica's first single?
Metal, Lars-Ulrich-style.

you know, all you people that say "omg, they are sellouts, their music must be s***" are really stupid. ok, so metallicas newer stuff isnt so great, but how can you possibly put on Master of Puppets or Enter Sandman and not say "wow". They are one of the greatest metal bands ever and regardless of being "sell outs" they are still f***ing amazing.

You know, I'd be upset if Metallica didn't suck and if Rock Band wasn't a $200 Guitar Hero rip-off.
Anyways, it's not like I can't LimeWire the sh** if I want to.
