Decapitated Ink Nuclear Blast Deal

Band Photo: Decapitated (?)
The supreme Polish Death Metal commando DECAPITATED has just inked a deal with Nuclear Blast. An excerpt from a label press release reads as follows:
"This exceptional band has so far recorded four albums, and we're looking forward to the upcoming mix of technical superiority, brutal riffs and blast-beats on album number five. The joy over these awesome news are of course overshadowed by the tragic death of Decapitated drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka. Vitek passed away on November 3rd in a Russian hospital due to severe head injuries resulting from a heavy car crash involving the band's tour bus and a truck while touring Russia. The highly respected and acclaimed blast-beat maestro was only 23 years old. Rest in peace, Vitek!"

I don't think the band should continue without Vitek. I'm sure VItek would have liked them to carry on but I'm doubtful that they'll find a drummer that can fill his shoes. He was a founding member of the band and they lost their bassist as well (not in the accident, he left the band). It's just Covan and the guitarist now and I don't think that's Decapitated at heart.

I agree Maikeru, it's gotta be tough losing a founding member of band - even a more underground band that Decapitated is. I was hoping that they would become more popular but it's hard to say anything yet until they find replacements and the scars are healed, which may never happen b/c Vitek was a great drummer

Good point, I didn't even realize that. Stupid me. But anyway, perhaps what happened was the band never put out an offficial disbandment statement so record labels called on in to see if they'd be interested. Unfortunately, musician death = publicity. We all know that, many of metal and musics greats never got the fame and respect they deserved until after their passing. I wouldn't be surprised if NB called Decapitated up after the accident and put the deal on the table because they knew it would be a worthy investment. Just my two cents, we all know it's plausible - no matter how insensitive it sounds. I don't know what I would do if it was my brother and drummer, but chances are both he and Vitek would want you to go on. Meh.
