Disturbed Begin Recording New Album
DISTURBED has entered a Chicago studio to begin recording its fourth album, the follow-up to 2005's platinum-certified "Ten Thousand Fists". The band, which features vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist John Moyer, has chosen to produce the album itself. The as-yet-untitled CD will be released by Reprise Records in the spring of 2008.
According to Draiman, the forthcoming album "seems to have taken on a darker character than the previous albums. It's more furiously paced and complex." He continues, "producing the record ourselves has been a learning experience that will serve the record well."
Known for itspunishingly powerful music and Draiman's passionate, socially conscious lyrics, DISTURBED has sold a combined 9 million copies worldwide of its three albums — 2000's triple-platinum "The Sickness", 2002's Billboard album chart-topper "Believe", and its second consecutive No. 1 "Ten Thousand Fists" — since forming in Chicago in 1996. The latter disc spawned five radio singles, including "Stricken" and "Land of Confusion", which was accompanied by an animated video by cult hero, "Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane.
Last year, DISTURBED headlined both Ozzfest and the band's own Music As A Weapon III Tour. A new song, "This Moment", was released in July on the soundtrack to this summer's smash hit robot fantasy-film "Transformers".
In a July 2007 interview with "The Big Rock Show", Dan Donegan stated about the group's new material, "Definitely, as far as musically, it's a lot ballsier than we've written. There's gonna be those signature things that are us, just 'cause stylistically that's the way we perform, and David, vocally, is always gonna sound like him, so… he's got some big melodic moments, but there's some still aggressive stuff — just a lot ballsier, I think. [We're] trying to get a good blend of the elements of the past three CDs to try to evolve into something fresh and new for us as well."

f*** YES! Ahhh my favorite band is back to work and I couldn't be happier. This made my day :{D
I love how they just keeping blending their past albums together...but if this is truly darker material I couldn't be happier. Perhaps Disturbed is walking the road of Pantera before them...

I don't understand why this band is on this site or how people can stand to listen to them to be honest. Pantera is ok, Dimebag Darrel is the only reason why that band is worth listening to. Disturbed and Pantera can no way be put in the same category, Pantera was FAR more influential than Disturbed ever will be.

Disturbed are great, and although I'm not much of a Pantera fan, there's definately no room for comparison there. Their musical styles are way too different to give an honest comparison between the two. In terms of talent, it is pretty hard to compete with Dime, but I still don't see any way you could really compare the two bands.

I don't think that Disturbed are overrated. The problem here is much like Avenged Sevenfold's but not exacerbated to the same degree. A lot of people will religiously despise bands because they have any amount of popularity, and on the flip-side you have the fan-boys/girls that just piss everyone off with their "This band or die"-type attitudes. Too many people define their music tastes based on what other people think. Pretty f***ing weak if you ask me.

Whats all this comparing to Pantera? Who gives a sh**. People who love Disturbed don't like Pantera, and vise-versa. Enjoy your music and stfu. Album sales show alot, and both bands are awesome. Disturbed's music is 100% unique, you can't say that about Pantera. No one sounds like Draiman.

Aww Disturbed makes my p***s hard. Then I like to c** all over deathbringer's face after he sucks my d***. Ohh yeah. while listening to Disturbed! Me and my friend Little Richard like to have three ways with deathbringer while listening to Disturbed and Machine Head.

I just seem to remember them saying they don't want to be called metal, so SKA-REW THEM! They fit into the same mold as Drowning Pool, MuddPuddle, Mudvayne, HellYeah and yes, even Damageplan. It's not as bad as all that Korn/Limp Bizket sh it, but I don't know that I would really call it metal. Maybe really hard rock?
