Cradle of Filth Keep On Going

Having debuted way back in 1991, there aren’t a whole lot of bands around these days with anything approaching the longevity of Cradle of Filth.
That being said, the only member remaining from Cradle of Filth’s original lineup is vocalist and songwriter Dani Filth.
When asked what has kept the band going for so long, Filth points to this revolving door of members as one of the principle reasons, saying that it inspires fresh ideas from time to time.
The reasons for so many departures, explains Filth, vary widely, from the expected personality conflicts, to an unwillingness on the part of some musicians to submit to the furious pace and work ethic of the band, to one member’s wish to return to university.
“It’s a substantial amount of time and a hard pace,” Filth says. “Writing an album every year and a half is a massive output.”
The last album Cradle of Filth recorded, 2006’s Thornography, was especially hard, due in large part to some paranormal activity at the studio where they recorded.
Having ghosts involve themselves in the recording process would make this writer consider leaving a band, but Filth assured me that living in Britain has forced many people to confront history face to face.
“The house [that the band recorded in] had quite a history to it,” he says. “Weird stuff kept happening and things kept appearing—it was very odd. It could have been anything really—it’s England.”
All the details of the recording process, including the ghosts, were documented in a recording diary posted to the band’s web page. Filth says he likes the way the internet has opened up new and direct avenues for communication with fans, but only to a point.
“I think it’s cool,” he says of the recording blog the band started. “I don’t think it has to be worked at too hard, so that the mystery isn’t lost. I’m not a fan of MySpace. I think it’s a waste of time—unless you’re trying to pick someone up.”
Filth says the band is looking forward to getting to Edmonton; the closest they’d come previously was being in the Jasper area on a previous tour, which they found particularly enchanting.
“There was something magical about the whole thing,” he remembers, “because there was so much snow and we were plunged into complete darkness.”

they wear make-up, and they are dudes, no reason for it, and then to try and be different(which tons of other bands wear make-up and are gay as well so they aren't different from anything else), or they are wearing make-up to try and be scary, which dani-filth is like what 3ft. tall? yea... not scary at all. thats all I have to say about this band.

alright nymph cof isnt even black metal, black metal is emperor, satyricon, and darkthrone, ive given up on this band i thought thornography would redeem this band for the sh** that was nymphetamine, it was better then nymphetamine but still a disgrace to a band who released dusk... and her embrace and midian

fukkin A' i know a thing or two about metal son. Cradle wishes they had half as much integrity and street cred as Napalm Death you know that ND career spans 20 plus years right? And i dont think there were on Viva La Bam lately like those fukkin erasure wanabee copouts were.
I rest my case.

1991 to 2007.........The fact they are still top of their genre, says it all.......................In regards to comments, about them veering from BM to Gothic......Dani openly admits, that he is inspired by a lot of the old school gothic music! Love em or hate em, they are still going strong, so must be doing something right!!!

I love Cradle. I just saw them live and they were unbelievable....they still played the old stuff hard and the new stuff sounded good. Has anyone listened to the interview with Dani Filth on Thornography? It explains why Temptation and Cemetery and Sundown are so light...it's worth a gander before you cast judgement. Here ya go: http://www.cradleoffilth.com/ it's halfway down the page. Peace

Azazel_Begotten that does make sence, Cradle of Filth shall be henceforth recognized as Blackend Gothic Metal, and there Damnation and a Day album (since playing with the 40-piece Budapest Film Orchestra and 32-piece Budapest Film Choir) shall be Blackend Symphonic Gothic Metal
i can put up with liers but hypocrites is someone i cant tolerate like nymph and tteotd

Besides last year at Doiwnload backstage, Dani Filth got his arse kicked for slagging off Anthrax, Barney Greenway on the other hand has challenged entire gangs to fights before and walked away unscathed. Yet another reason why Napalm Death owns Cradle, they don't have a p***y frontman (even if he is a veggie!)

Meh. I like them. I liked them more 10 years ago. I'll vuy anything they put out, just like I'll buy this upcoming GNR album. I don't care if it's crap, they've made some amazing music, and I feel like I ripped them off for Cruelty and Midian.
As long as they're making music, I'll buy it. I wouldn't mind if they dumped Roadrunner and went somewhere a little less... mainstream.

^^Isn't that the truth, I try and get on every day ever since I found this glorious site. Best site EVER!!! but yeah I like it when several people call everyone the first things that come off their head...I'm not even sure I could ever become angry at people on the internet.

I do sometimes but not when it's just people voicing their opinions. Plus I have a great deal of respect for you Scorpion69 because you don't throw a hissy fit when someone slags off a band you like unlike practically every other twat that randomly pops up on here
