Bleeding Through and Avenged Sevenfold Cover Pantera's Walk
BLEEDING THROUGH is currently dominating their run on Ozzfest 2006, returning for their sophomore year to co-headline the second stage. The band's new album, "The Truth", has been going strong since its release earlier this year, garnering much attention from fans and media alike. As an added bonus, fans have been able to see BLEEDING THROUGH vocalist Brandan Schieppati on stage with good friends AVENGED SEVENFOLD, singing a cover of PANTERA's "Walk". Speaking of the collaboration, Brandan says, "AVENGED SEVENFOLD is from our hometown in Orange County, and we took them out on our first tour. We have been close for awhile, and when they asked me to sing on stage with them, I accepted right away. They are singing the song as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, and also to inform the younger generation of the important role of PANTERA in metal's musical evolution."

to these two dumb retards above me. they did this as a tribute to dimebag. they did it because he and pantera meant alot to them as well as myself and you guys. whther you like a7x or not it should not matter. they did it out of respect, so you should appreicate that. and by the way i thought it was a good cover of walk when i saw them at ozzfest. the whole crowd went nuts. it was one of the biggest pits i have ever seen. and no a7x did not get booed as you two probably would think. so go listen to whatever bands you guys listen to where they all sound the same and you dont understand a word they are saying cause its all screaming like they are getting fu*ked in the ass

If a band is willing to cover pantera, and they are not making it a techno pop version, then they at least understand and respect the fact that pantera was a better band than them. Whether or not you like A7x, at least the band and yourself can agree on something... pantera is a better band than a7x.... they know it... we know it... so what's all the fuzz about?
I hear a lot of people in this forum talking sh** about a lot of bands... however, im pretty sure most of you don't really play an instrument, and as such, you do not understand how hard it is to do certain things... For example, covering pantera.... anyone that can do a decent pantera cover deerves some respect.... ok, so you dont like a7x.... that's fine... but don't try to tell me that they are a crappy band.... linkin park is a crappy band... a7x is not.... good charlotte is a crappy band.... a 7x is not.... papa roach.. ok, you get the point
the point is that there is a difference between what you don't like and what is a crappy band... example: I do not like rush (and im a bass player, so that's a double)... however, i don't think they're a bad band... they're just not my cup of tea....
sit down, listen to a band and try to figure out whether you don't like them or you don't respect them.... and once you decide that, then make a statement.. if you love lamb of god, children of bodom and slayer (with dave lombardo), and hate everything else, then im not gonna take your opinion seriously.... you are a joke of a music fan, and if ure a musician and that's all ure influenced by, then ure probably a joke of a musician too

totally agree with anon on everything on the musician part. it is very hard to play an instrument much less cover walk. i play guitar so i should know. however some of the bands anon put down i happen to be a fan of. but that is the beauty of music. we all have diiferent taste be it a7x or metallica or hatebreed. but i do agree about good charlotte, they are crap and they fu**ing suck.

guess again anon in post 5. im actually a fairly accomplished guitarist, and i happen not to appreciate avenged sevenfolds music. that is all. i didnt say anything other than that i agree w/ post #1 and that sent you on a full page rant. it is just a matter of taste my friend and i dont agree w/ yours. is that alright??? avenged sevenfold are a total rip off of every sunset strip band ever w/ a little splash of nevermore riffage in the mix. i didnt say anything about their talent at all. every band out their right now covers either a pantera, metallica, or slayer song at their shows so this is not exclusive to those douche bags....and to answer your question on musical taste, here's a few bands you might want to check out w/ some real talent Behemoth, Converge, Lair of the Minatour, Pelican, the Mars Volta, Job For a Cowboy, and FASSW just to name a few to show you that im not as ignorant as you are making me out to be. no need for the high and mighty music speeches on this website. im sure there are plenty of people that are more talented than you or i on that post on this site and everyone has different opinions, so all that said, what was the point of your post anyway?????

I don't like quite a few of the bands that have come out in the past few years, but I actually like A7Xs latest album. I think their pop-punk biker with a gang bandanna look is pretty horrible, but I think they have done what few newer bands have done and actually shown some proficiency on their instruments.

I hate, well for one their music. But I hate that they TRY to be badasses. You can't try to be a badass. Look at all the guys from Slayer, just badass they don't have to do anything they just are. 2.- The reason why "everybody" covers a metallica, pantera or slayer song is because
a) they are challenging
b) crowds like them
c) band themselves like them
3.- I am aware that there is a list of bands that ive never heard of, and that you have, that are "the bands" i need to hear. But that is completely besides the point. I did not ask for advice on what i should listen to, and if u read my post you should have understood that i was not insulting everyone that listens to Lamb of god, children of bodom and slayer.... im inly insulting those people who listen to those three bands, consider everything else "p***y music", and will get on every discussion about a7x and say nothing other than "this fa**ots are not metal" or "f*** these panzy bands covering real metal". I understand most people that like metal like other things too. You obviously where not the target audience of my post.
and lastly, regarding a7x, someone already said it, but they're the first mainstream band with a guitar solo in every song ive seen in a long, long, long, sadly long, depressingly long time. Considering the only other sh** that's played on the radio is nowhere near them in talent, ill give them a round of applause...Personally, i would dispose of the singer.... and the make up... and put more strippers in their videos... cuz that would be cool

and yes, geddy lee is a badass bass player, and i do understand how influential he has been... His ability to play sixteenth notes moving all over the neck is very impressive, and he has written some pretty catchy riffs, so there's no denying that... i just don't like the vocals, and though ive tried, i cant get past that

I think a problem with a large part of the metal community today, and is underlying in the aforementioned posts, is that people who consider themselves diehard metalheads have a kind of tunnel vision. They listen to only what they think is badass and ignore everything else. All too often I talk to fellow metal fans about music and they say something along the lines , "Classic rock? Nah man, that's some p***y sh**." What the f***? If you are a metal fan, you have to appreciate Led Zeppelin, The Who, and what about classical music? When you think about it, metal is one of the only genres out there that encourages inventive and complex song structure as well as an extremely high level of musicianship, as did classical music. The type of music that metal exemplifies was and is spawned by classical music, and if you think I'm talking out of my ass, you need to go back and look at the well-documented history of our genre.
As for A7X covering Pantera, I doubt it has anything to do with respect for Pantera or a tribute to Dimebag. Everyone likes Pantera, so if they play Pantera, they'll make money. If A7X really respected Pantera or what Pantera did, they wouldn't have turned into mainstream sellouts, which, in the underground metal community, is about the worst transgression you can possibly make. So if you've been wondering why everyone sh**-talks Avenged, there's your answer.

thank you DrunkIrishMetal !!its what im sayin!! theres a fine line betwwen real good thrash metal like slayer and pantera who knew that they didnt want 2 sellout and never did for their loyal fans and than thers the sellouts like avenged seven fold (and stop spellin it a7x, thats another way of them tryin 2 be bada** ) who could care less if they went pop and got a whole new fan base because theyll b makin money. all im sayin is keep these genres seperated. i wont mind them on tv 24/7 (like they r now) as long as i no they will never involve pantera in anything they do.and belive me if pantera was such a huge influence how come they dont sound at all like them whatsoever and y do they whee gay goth makeup. at dont say ive only heard 1 of their songs and i dont no what im talkin about because iv heard as much as i need 2 2 make this conclusion. keep pop hardcore out of metal.

thanks metalmayhem, and the same goes to you... after you responded to my first post i realized i wasnt talking to the usual "i hate everything" poster... so i apologize if i came of ranting too soon.... but im just trying to get people in this forum to post things that are constructive, or that open the door to discussion. I want to learn from people with similar tastes than me about new bands, but i dont wanna hear endless posts about how one band sucks.
To the rest of the people:
Then again, i do understand that every once in a while, you need to let some anger out and insult a band... that's fine... but with most bands that are not perfect, it is very easy to follow up your comment with a reason why you don't like it. That way, you get your anger out, and i get to hear why is it that you dont like the band.
Example:
I f***ing hate linkin park. I think that the theme of their songs are aimed at 13 year olds, the music is the most generic hard rock ive ever heard, not a single player is the band is anywhere near talented at what they do and they look like they take more time figuring out how they wanna look than a b**** before their wedding.
