Black Label Society To Play Ozzfest 2006

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY booking agent Troy Blakely at APA has told Billboard magazine that the band will be taking part in this summer's Ozzfest before doing additional North American dates in the fall. "We don't know how we're going to do it yet or who we're going to be out with, but that's the plan, we're going to be back here in the fall headlining," he said.
This year BLACK LABEL SOCIETY will tour overseas for most of the spring and early summer. The band is booked in Europe by Nigel Kerr at APS and in South America by Bill Monot at Paradise Artists.
"For the first time this year, we're going to South America, for 16 headlining shows in 3,000-capacity-plus [venues]," BLACK LABEL SOCIETY manager Bob Ringe told Billboard. "We're going to Australia for the first time this year — eight shows in May, 3,000-capacity-plus. And we're doing a headlining European tour from May 23 until the first of July."
Blakely calls BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde "one of the hardest workers I've ever seen in the music business, period, and I've been doing this about 32 years."
Wylde's work ethic impressed Blakely early on. "He's working 24 hours a day, not just when he's onstage," Blakely said. "He's either writing material for himself or for OZZY OSBOURNE, working on other projects he's involved with, designing guitars or whatever else he's doing."
On the road, Wylde and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY are rock-solid at the box office. "we did two tours in 2005," Ringe noted. "The spring tour we did 97.6% capacity, and the fall tour we headlined 3,000-plus seaters."
According to Blakely, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's fan base is very loyal. "That's one of the things I noticed a couple of years ago when I had JUDAS PRIEST on Ozzfest," he said. "I saw this fan base that Zakk has. There are chapters in each city that are very, very loyal fans, that come out for Zakk and bring other people and spread the word about what Zakk and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY are up to. I've never seen anything quite like that before."
As previously reported, Zakk Wylde is expected to write, record and tour with Ozzy in 2006 and beyond. This was announced after apparent scheduling conflicts with Wylde and subsequent auditions for Ozzy's replacement for Zakk.

they are allright but ive had enough of them opening the first stage. they should move to the second stage get a little closer to the fans. I left afdur the second stage last year. No real bands on the first stage i wanted to see except sabbath. but i saw them the year before so i said f*** it. BLS is a very talented band though all in all. i hope they get some kik a$$ bands to play this year.

As others have said..it sure is a big surprise BLS is on Ozzfest. I'm NEVER EVER disappointed with them, but I think it would be cool if they headlined their own tour over the summer, and maybe dropping in on a few Ozzfest dates. Since they are going to be on this year, I shall have to meet Zakk Wylde. Maybe I won't have to pay to get sh** signed...wishful thinking..

Hmmm, should I comment on BLS or Ozzfest? Oh, i see the topic is BLS...
ANYWAY, I saw Zakk and crew at ozzfest last year and they were bad-f u c king a s s as usual. I'll be looking for them again this year on and off ozzfest, hopefully they will roll back through Dallas on a headline gig. They headlined here about a year ago and the line was around the block, literally.

bls is not a very good band at all....zach is sick on the axe, no doubt about that. however, every song sounds the same and the live show is a two hour solo f u c k i n g fest. not very entertaining, and not surprising that they are the first band to sign on for sharonfest next summer......i think ill just go see the nile and behemoth/morbid angel tours respectively. (plus both shows will cost me less to see far better bands).....makes sense right?

F*** zakk wylde and BLS how about bringing Slayer back again they have the best pit and the best fans. And if they want to go old school lets get bands like TESTAMENT , ANTHRAX , SUICIDAL TENDENCIES (THEIR STILL AROUND) .S**t how about KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SOULFLY, SEVENDUST to name a few. Anything is better than having to stand and listen to zakk cry and complain about LIMPBIZKIT selling out to sell their records,( last time I checked the only way BLS can sell albums if they ride with ozzfest). so please anyone but BLS

PLEASE DONT TELL ME BLACK LABEL SOCIETY ARE HEADLINING, I CANT HANDLE IT. BY THE WAY THEIR FANS TALK YOU WOULD THINK ITS PANTERA (RIP DIMEBAG) OR SOMETHING.I WISH BLS WERE DRUNK, AT LEAST IT WOULD BE SOMETHING TO LOOK AT . SO PLEASE IF THERE IS ANY JUSTICE IN THE WORLD PLEASE NO ZAKK AND BLS. I WOULD RATHER WATCH RERUNS OF SMALL WONDER THAN SIT (AND I MEAN SIT) THROUGH ANOTHER OZZFEST WITH THEM IN IT. COULD THEY PUT UP A 3RD STAGE JUST FOR THEM AND THEN WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PIT. HOW ABOUT SYSTEM OF A DOWN, DEFTONES OR EVEN DMX.

Here's the deal. Ozzfest is a great metal festival usually headlined by the sickest, motherf***ers ever, but it is turning into a bit of a hard core-fest. Hardcore's cool, but I came for the metal. As far as BLS society headlining the thing, I don't think so. I am a huge BLS fan, but they are not quite ready for that. They have to make sure that 40,000+ drunk, hardcore fans are still around at 10:00 and BLS just ain't going to get that gig. Who do you get to replace solo Ozzy or Black Sabbath? The answer is no one. I love metal, hard core, nu-metal, death metal, thrash metal, speed metal and everything in between but the bottom line is there is only one Ozzy. I will be there this year as I have been for the past 10 years ( I"m kinda old) but you all better be there too because when the godfather of all godfather's retires and hangs up the mike you can forget about seeing metal in huge venues again. It's a f***in' shame, but we need more metal fans. BLS is awesome, so is Anthrax, so is Manson, so is Priest, So is Slipknot, but ask yourself... will there ever be another OZZY? 140 million albums sold with no help from the radio or MTV. Catch the metal while you can because unless there is a huge band in the next few years, we only have a few left. Keep on rockin and in the words of Dime "Get em up!!!!!!!!!"

HEY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ALL ARE CRYING ABOUT. I WENT AND SAW ZAKK AND THE REST OF BLS IN A LITTLE OL' BAR IN ST.LOUIS, AND I HAVE TO SAY, I'VE BEEN TO ALOT OF CONCERTS, BUT ZAKK WYLDE AND BLS IS THE BEST CONCERT I;VE EVER SEEN. KEPT ME BANGING MY HEAD AND ROCKING ON ALL NIGHT. I ALSO HAVE MANY FRIENDS WHO NOW ARE FOLLOWERS OF BLS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE MUSIC(ANY ZAKK WYLDE MUSIC) THEN YOUR NOT F**KING LISTENING TO IT. MAYBE SOME OF YOU ARE RIGHT, MAYBE IT SHOULD BE ZAKK FEST INSTED, BUT WHATEVER IT IS IT WILL ALWAYS WILL HAVE PEOPLE THERE WHO WILL FOLLOW WHOEVER IS PLAYING.
