Audioslave Finish Writing Material For Third Album

MTV.com reports: During Saturday's (Oct. 29) performance at New York's Madison Square Garden, AUDIOSLAVE frontman Chris Cornell told the crowd the band is finished writing all of the material for its third album. The group then played, for the first time, one of the tracks that'll make the LP. Cornell said the song was still untitled, and even had its lyrics written down on the stage so he wouldn't forget them. "I only wrote them last week," he said.
AUDIOSLAVE is currently in the middle of its first major North American tour since the release of their sophomore album, "Out of Exile", which finds the band headlining arenas on its own for the first time.
AUDIOSLAVE did a short run of North American dates just before "Out of Exile"'s May 24 release.
As on that tour, AUDIOSLAVE is playing songs from its members' previous groups, SOUNDGARDEN, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and TEMPLE OF THE DOG.
The band is joined on the current jaunt by openers SEETHER and KASABIAN.

There is some video out there of him performing RATM songs at the Live 8 show. A different take for sure. They did "Killing in the Name" and one other. Audioslave definitely isn't for everyone...but I love Cornell's voice. The new music is something to just kick back to...although the first record still had some hard songs.

I also like Audioslave, it's just rock. different than Rage and Soundgarden, but you can hear elements of both. First record was better than the new. Saw them on thier first tour, they didn't play anything from either orginal bands, would have been cool to hear something from badmotorfinger

i like audioslave. they are a great band. of course they are nothing like ratm or soundgarden, but they are still a great band and cornell is a great vocalist. really, you cant compare RATM and audioslave, because they play differentm types of music. although im not sure if cornell singing RATM songs is a great idea. but whatever floats yer boat.

Audioslave are a fantastic group. I saw them live at Brixton a few months ago, and in my opinion is the best gig i have ever been to. Many of their songs may be quite mellow, but they can make a crowd jump for sure at a live gig.
I witnessed them myself play killing in the name, sleep now in the fire and bulls on parade. I never thought i would get the chance to see any RAGE song played live, and thanks to them i did. i admit there is nothing i would have loved more than to see Zack de la Rocha jump out on stage, but Cornell did a grand job by singing in his own tribute to RAGE.
I think that audioslave are a very unique and talented band, and i think they are worthy of being called the 'supergroup' they have been entitled with.

I saw audioslave in Hartford a few days ago and the show was amazing. Cornell's voice was ridiculously good and morello was awesome as usual. Rusty Cage sounded better than it does on Badmotorfinger and the Rage songs were well done. Cochise and Show me how to live had the place ready to combust. Good to see at 40+ Cornell's voice is still the aural equivalent of being napalmed. A+ on the show as a whole.

Does anyone care about this band? I enjoyed both Soundgarden and RATM but just cannot get into this one. I am curious how Chris does the vocals on the RATM songs they play live.
