Butcher Babies Debut “Blame It On The Wind” Following Weather-Canceled ‘Sonic Temple’ Premiere

Alternative metal band Butcher Babies had planned to debut their new single “Blame It On The Wind” live during this past weekend’s “Sonic Temple” festival in Columbus, Ohio, but severe weather—including lightning and heavy rain—forced the cancellation of their set along with two others.

Although the live premiere never materialized, the band have now officially released the studio version of the track online. The rollout, however, sparked some controversy after the group shared an AI-generated joke video poking fun at their misfortune at the festival. Some fans and critics of AI took issue with the clip, apparently overlooking the original caption clarifying it was meant humorously.

In response, vocalist Heidi Shepherd posted a follow-up video explaining the situation and confirming that an official music video for “Blame It On The Wind” is scheduled to arrive next week. She reiterated that the AI-generated clip was only intended as a joke, as originally stated.

Like several of the band’s recent singles, “Blame It On The Wind” was co-produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, P.O.D.) and Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson. Former In Flames and Red drummer Joe Rickard also contributed to the production and mixing process. Benson and Sanderson additionally co-run Judge & Jury Records, the label currently home to Butcher Babies.
