Extinction A.D. have released their new anti-authoritarian single “Thaw,” now available to stream alongside an accompanying music video. The track marks their second release since signing with M-Theory Audio earlier this year.

Vocalist/guitarist Rick Jimenez — also of This Is Hell — commented on the political themes behind the song’s lyrics:

“It’s very easy to assume writing an anti-authoritarian song is passé in heavy music in 2026, but as a band that exists in both the metal world and the hardcore world, it’s surprisingly polarizing. The ‘defenders of the status quo’ all the way to the ‘regressive back-to-the-past’ thinking infiltrating our scenes is purely bizarre to me. This song is an unabashed condemnation of the abuse of federal power in the ICE organization and the denial of celebrating racist and fascist ideals under the guise of supporting politicians.

The video for ‘Thaw’ was to bring like-minded people into our world and be just as, if not more, important than the four members of the band. It’s not just our song, it’s everyone’s song.”
