Electric Wizard, Noctem To Play Poland's Mystic Festival
Mystic Festival added four more bands to it's already mind blowing line-up this upcoming summer. Electric Wizard, Seth, Neptunian Maximalism, and Noctem will lead you through the dark June night, each down their own path.
Electric Wizard
They titled their concert album Black Magic Rituals & Perversions, from the title of their 2007 song. There are few records in the world whose title so truthfully and thoroughly presents their content. Electric Wizard’s performances truly are rituals, with pitch black doom riffs being the liturgy and the object of worship and the altar having been erected on the first records of Black Sabbath, cult Hammer horror films and H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. The Brits are coming back to Mystic Festival to give us all horrendous nightmares.
Seth
Seth’s latest album, La France des Maudits, with its sound, lyrics and aesthetic, tells the story of a France cursed, drenched in blood, engulfed by fire. It must be said, however, the Franks have been blessed with many a black metal talent, and the band hailing from Bordeaux is among the pioneers of these dark arts. Seth’s music is brutal and angry, as it should be, but it also conveys the character and complexity of the French culture.
Neptunian Maximalism
Not really a band, but a collective of musicians with a flexible line-up formed around the multi-instrumentalist, Guillaume Cazalet. Technically from Belgium, they’re forever venturing into uncharted continents and unexplored galaxies. Neptunian Maximalism’s style is impossible, yet this mixture of drone metal, doom, free jazz, ambient, and the musical heritage of the Orient does exist. You might just transcend during this concert.
Noctem
The Spaniards of Noctem have been serving the night for a quarter of a century now. In their music, the black metal venom is fortified with the brutal death metal force. The lyrical content is rooted in the marriage, not uncommon for the genre, of misanthropy and a fascination with the mythical and historical legacy of the olden times. Live performances? That’s easy – no one lives to tell the tale.
Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 3rd through 6th, 2026.
