Gaahl's Wyrd And Static-X To Play Mystic Festival In 2026
Mystic Festvial are announcing the next four pearls in the festival’s line-up. They are complete opposites, except for one thing – a rare talent for conjuring up separate musical worlds: Static-X, Thrown, Gaahls Wyrd, and Blood Vulture.
Static-X
Are you ready for the Evil Disco? Static-X are coming to us from California to wreck the Shipyard with their enthralling rave that runs on industrial and nu-metal. Though it’s been over a decade since Wayne Static’s passing, the band’s back from the dead, with an equally charismatic Zer0 at the front. With each concert and each record – so far, we’re talking about both volumes of Project: Regeneration – they are proving that this show must go on. It’s far too fascinating to pull the curtain on it.
Thrown
The Swedish four-piece Thrown is one of the fastest-growing metal bands of the 2020s. In 2021, they knocked us out with the unexpected hit that was their EP Extended Pain, and in 2024, finished the job with the excellent debut album Excessive Guilt. Their original, modern vision for the metallisation of hardcore is sharp enough in the studio version, but fully crystallizes when Thrown are on stage, playing live. As you surely know already – word gets around fast.
Gaahls Wyrd
Gaahl’s destiny is connecting us with the heart of darkness through music as beautiful as it is blood-curdling. He used to be the voice of Gorgoroth and God Seed; now he continues his journey through this forsaken earth as the leader of Gaahls Wyrd. Recently, the Norwegians released their sophomore album, Braiding the Stories, an entry of unprecedented singularity on the contemporary black metal scene. And live… Don’t expect any theatrics, costumes, or friendly gestures. Gaahl doesn’t need any of that to lead you into the heart of the abyss.
Blood Vulture
For years, the New Yorker Jordan Olds, under the pseudonym Gwarsenio Hall, enthralled us an internet personality, a performer of ingenious covers and the host of the only metal talk show, Two Minutes to Late Night. But Jordan’s next project, Blood Vulture, was no laughing matter. In Sam’s words, it’s gothic sludge; others have likened the band’s sound to Alice in Chains, if instead of grunge they played epic doom. Either or, a one-of-a-kind band.
Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 3rd through 6th, 2026.
