Fictional G.I. Joe Metal Band Cold Slither Premiere New Track “Knock ’Em Dread”

Cold Slither, the once-fictional metal band introduced in a 1985 episode of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, have returned with a second real-world single, “Knock ‘Em Dread.” The release comes as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the original episode that birthed the concept.
Originally portrayed as a brainwashing musical act formed by the villainous Zartan and his gang of mercenaries, the Dreadnoks, the group has now been fully realized for a debut studio album. Production duties were handled by Gus Ríos (Gruesome, ex-Malevolent Creation).
Unlike the TV plotline, this new track doesn’t come packed with subliminal messages meant to manipulate minds for Cobra — just riffs, attitude, and nostalgia-laced heaviness.
This musical revival is part of a broader Cold Slither resurgence that includes:
- A limited edition action figure set headed to San Diego Comic-Con
- A one-shot comic book
- Additional tie-in content and surprises still to come
An animated music video for “Knock ‘Em Dread” — created by Costin Chioreanu — is available to watch below.
