Vermilia Premiere New Music Video For "Ruska"

It's quite fitting that Vermilia has chosen to release a video for "Ruska" during this time of year. The Finnish word "ruska" beautifully captures the essence of autumn colors and foliage. Here in the northeastern United States, we are witnessing the arrival of this enchanting season, and I can only imagine that it's approaching its peak in the picturesque landscapes of Finland as I pen these words. "Ruska" serves as the title track for Vermilia's remarkable second album, which graced our ears in 2022.

The video's simplicity is its strength, providing a visual tapestry that perfectly complements Vermilia's distinctive fusion of folk-inspired black metal.

The song itself carries an anthemic quality, akin to a soundtrack for a long-forgotten pagan ritual, its memory obscured by the passage of time, much like leaves buried beneath the waves. Vermilia sheds light on the video's creation, noting:

“The Ruska track got the autumn colors it deserved, filmed in beautiful North Karelia and Häme with the help of Laaksonniemi.”
