Korn Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch Leaves

Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, a founding member of Korn, has left the band and has rededicated his life to Christianity, according to the group's management.
"Korn has parted ways with guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end," a statement from the band reads. "Korn respects Brian's wishes, and hopes he finds the happiness he's searching for."
The announcement puts to rest weeks of rumors that Welch was unhappy with Korn's direction. On February 8, he had apparently written a "letter of resignation" to the band's management. In the note, Welch detailed a long list of reasons for leaving the band, including increased moral objections to Korn's music and videos. In particular, he was upset by how he was portrayed in the clip for their cover of Cameo's "Word Up," off their recently released Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 album. In the video, Welch's face was superimposed on a dog patrolling a strip club.
"I can go up there and play those songs and those solos but ... I distanced myself from Korn for probably a year and a half, two years. I just wanted to fade away, it was crazy. I was so gone," Welch told Bakersfield, California, radio station KRAB on Sunday. "But I found my way out and I want to help anyone that wants to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had to go through the lows to appreciate the highs and it's not perfect but it's damn near."
Welch plans on further explaining his decision to leave Korn this coming Sunday, when he'll address the congregation at the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California. And on February 28 he plans to leave for Israel.
The rest of the band are in the studio finishing the album which is due out in September.

I use to be a huge Korn fan. After a while I just got tired of their music. I thought that their early stuff still rules though. I am now into Slayer, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse..ect. It's a real bummer hearing someone that you use to love listening to finally end what he or she has been doing. I am a little shocked that he ended it this way. But that's fine, there is no use on blaming religion for every little problem though. So before you go into how God isn't real or that he is just remember that no one gives a damn. It's too bad that he left, but thigs will move on and hopefully for the better

good for him, that he's found some kind of happiness but there went (whether u liked him or not) someone who fought against the tide of boybands, and britney spears types of that era (late 90's) and played his weird a$$ extra string guitar in a band that was never fully accepted by the community they rose from, or the genre they played in..
just that kind of effort and dedication is pretty f***ing metal...

Korn's first album was heavier than the crap they put out now, but it wasn't the greatest either. So I can see how from a musical point, Head leaving would change the band completly. If they get a new guitarist, he's going to have to play the same way Head did. Because Korn has a signature sound, they got bass.

Why is there no tolerance in religion?
I recently heard from some people that Buddha doesn't exist. But he was an actual person like Jesus was. In the Buddhist history, they mention of a great flood that lasted 40 days. So do other ancient religions, they all mention the flood. They all said he was false, he's not. I'm not denying myself my religion, and I'm not denying them theirs. This was a different part of the world.
The point I"m trying to make with that is that there is still no toleration for anyone's religion.
Now, I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the Muslims, that's because they treat women bad. But religions like Daoism, Buddhism, Judaism, etc. should be tolerated.

I do know that a descision of that kind can maken a person very happy. But it's not as if he's automatically destined for better times. He'll still have his struggles and all. Only, hopefully, he'll have his relationship with God to help him.
On last thing: People, wars are not instigated by God. Wars are instigated by people. Sometimes they think they're acting in 'the name of' God. But I don't think God himself believes in slaughtering your fellow-man. It's the thing that I just keep on running into: People always mentions the countless wars, instigated by Christianity. Please, don't focus to much on men.

I think religion is a big waste of time and all should not be practiced. I also dont believe there is God or Satan. Nothing good comes out of religion. Religion is a big factor in why people are so separated today. Look at Ireland the Protestants and Catholics hate each other because they have different religions. I go to church every once in a while. And I listen to Slayer. As long as other peoples' lives don't intertwine with mine, then by all means, feel free to do as you please. I don't think like the majority of Christians do. Im becoming seperated in a way, yet I'm still attached to that religion. Even though I am somewhat religious, I do think that religion is the cause of many problems. But I guess it can also solve your problems if you get into it. I'm a first time visitor to this website, unfortunately i had to find out about it on (Uggghhhh...) mtv.com(Gag....) while i was trying to find information on head's further musical pursuits. But then I got to reading this message board. and i just want to say first of all that i am what most of you would call a christian. The beautiful thing about Christianity is the fact the Jesus died to forgive all of the sins of the people that admit he did die for their sins and try to live their lives toward what god has planned for them. with that said. I am usually pretty reserved about telling other people what i think about their beliefs, be it political religious, or some insignificat thing. I respect Head for leaving the band. It pisses me off in a way tho, just cause they are my favorite band of all time. Great talent, especially head. iv heard some of his solo's on unreleased videos, n sh**...and they are absoulty amazing. He is deffinatly a talented player. But im happy for him, and i hope he does what he wants in life. And im pretty sure he did choose the right desicion. And Korn is going to still make wonderful music, especially because they have one their 2 past albums, while Head never did nething on them (if you question that, join Korn Kamp, and read the chat with Jonathan Davis). Munky has all along made the guitars. So, that shows that he is f***ing talented as well, and the rest of their music is going to be insane. BTW, someone mentioned about the TLC producer. If your wondering why the band did that aswell, is because he lets the band be free, and lets them do whatever you want, because, Korn got sick of the limitations, one reason why they are off the record label (Sony). I don't blame them, however "fear" is the last reason to have a religion or to convince others to join. "Hey man, when shi t goes down, im on the winning side." Good to know, but you shouldn't be waiting for a reward for when you do right. I still respect them and enjoy their music sometimes, but it's awesome that Head made that decision, it took guts to realize he was a sinner and that he needed Christ as his personal Savior! Just Praise the Lord, and i look forward to head's solo material. Either way, you should go pick up a copy of life is peachy and listen to Good god And wicked about 20 times, and then think about korn being the first band to really get noticed for taking a guitar and making it sound like you're running samples off a turntable with a slide bar and a digitech wammy.and tell me they suck as bad as you have said in the past.(you'll probably be able to, but this is just my passionate opinion)

yeah, not only will the cookie cutter mentality be more rampant, as i said, it may be the only standard in music after internet theft rules out all adventurous talent scouts attempts to breath new life into an industry that bases itself foremost on making money, and secondly if lastly on the music scene's health and livelihood.In 20 years, if music theft is not completely done away with, most good music will cease to exist on a mainstream or indie level.Sure musicians will still play for the love of the music, but paying for touring, merchandise, recording, equipment (plus upkeep) a car to travel and tour in, (plus upkeep) and not to mention taking the time off your job to actually play a small tour, will make it really hard for bands to get their name out there where poeple that would want to ear them can actually hear them and see them live. My biggest problem with music is nto even the industry, everybody has to make money, but the industry just does it in an immoral way.Internet pirating is killing the industry. but its not the industry that will suffer.sh**, those corporate business a$$holes will do anything for their paycheck, even steal the money from the poeple that make their money for them, the artist.and all that will be left are the manufactured pop bands that sh** platinum, and little else.So kids, do like uncle big bad says and buy your CDs.toodles

At the time I was playing Lead guitar in a cover band - Zep, Cream, Skynyrd, etc., and I had a great time living that lifestyle - drinkin, drugs, women, but it was nothing compared to what I've experienced living for Christ. If Head got last month what I got 25 years ago I rejoice with him and for him. There's a lot of religion in this world - a lot of "Christianity" that is drenched in hypocrisy - that always turned me off before I met the true Christ. I had no use for religion, but I thank the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ that there is a True religion - pure and holy - which floods the heart with joy and peace. You really couldn't know the contentment of walking in holiness without experiencing it - there is nothing in this world to compare with being at one with God. Alcohol, drugs and every other trinket I ever used to satisfy myself are so low on the scale they don't even register. I have no desire for those things - they are a cheap imitation of true satisfaction. The God of the Universe - that's where it's really at.
