Dwelling of Duels - Video Games Rocked Out
Every month for over a year Mike Thrall has put together a friendly video gaming competition called Dwelling of Duels (DoD) in which people submit their own arrangements of video game themes. The arrangements are usually metal oriented. Other times it is a jazz or piano piece. every month there is a theme, usually a type of game or a series. This month's theme was Metroid.
This month received the most submissions to DoD. 23 songs were submitted totaling over 2hours of music. One song was a 22 minute progressive epic.
"I think if you're ever going to start listening, this month is the month to be impressed by," says Thrall
Voting and discussion is currently held on the Minibosses’, a popular video game cover band, message board.
Thrall explains that its more about improvement of an individuals own skills than who wins, "Its a great competition, everyone has fun in it and you get a lot of comments on your music."
