Slipknot Frontman, Corey Taylor, Psyched About Performing In Australia

Slipknot are set to play the Big Day Out festival at the Gold Coast Parklands later this month and frontman Corey Taylor spoke with Time Off magazine about touring in Australia. "It is probably my favorite tour that I've been on, besides Ozzfest 2004," he said of the band's previous visit to the country. "I'd waited my whole life to go to Australia and when I got down there it was just everything I'd hoped it would be and more." Taylor remembered Australia's most appealing attributes with ease. "It was the kids and the weather," he said. "We'd done Europe and while it wasn't a letdown, as far as the kids go, it was just really grey. I remember walking out of the Australian airport ? I think we flew into Sydney ? and looking up at this huge sky and thinking, 'God, this is going to rock!'. It was just great. I remember hanging out with a lot of the kids that came to the shows, probably getting them in a lot of trouble! I just have a lot of really great memories from that time and I can't wait to get down there again."

Maybe it's past metalthekid's bedtime. Let's face it, deep down in your heart, even though you won't admit it, you know I'm right. And so is MadK, Aussie kids should be jamming to the Berzerker or Destroyer 666 or any of the other fine bands out here who prove Slipknot to be nothing more than a skidmark on the underwear of the metal scene.

If you look around not all my comments are negative, have you ever thought that maybe the bands I trash are the bands I don't like, which coincidentally enough, happen to be bands that you like? I trash these bands for my own entertainment while reading the metal news (which is the reason I come here - metal news - why else would I come here?), big f***ing deal.
It's up to you to have the maturity not to take it to heart when someone trashes a band that you like. Indeed this time what you are complaining about is a simple observation that makes a f***load of sense to both Madk and I; your only defense was 'you're a cynical douche'. No cogent argument, merely 'you're a cynical douche'. Now I realise what immense thought must've been put into that comment, but it doesn't convince me that Slipknot are any good does it?
If it'll make you feel better you can trash Emperor, Ulver, Opeth, Black Sabbath, Burzum and Bathory (my favourite bands). Go on, make it witty, make it funny! And I'll keep trashing Australia as long as it sucks ass, it's not like I mention it in irrelevant topics.

I LIVE IN BROOME WESTERN AUSTRALIA (THE REAL DOWNUNDER KIDDIES).
I DONT THINK ANY OF YOUSE HAVE ANY REALISATION OF HOW LONG WE HAVE TO WAIT TO GET GIGS, ESPECIALLY IN THE WEST. WE HAVE GREAT LOCAL SCENES, MOSTLY EXTREME, AND WE ATTEND/SUPPORT THESE WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF DEDICATION. AS MUCH AS WE ENJOY OUR LOCAL GIGS WE NEED OVER-SAES BANDS TO COME AND PLAY SO WE CAN GET SUPPORT SLOTS AND PROMOTE OUR BANDS OVERSEAS.
JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SOME BLOODY RESPECT WHEN POSTING ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIESM, SINCE MOST OF YOU HAVE OBVIOUSLY NO IDEA OF LIVING OUTSIDE/NEAR ANY SORT OF MAJOR CITY.

im not gonna bash those bands because i like some of them. all that i am saying is that there is no need to bash these bands. one can disagree with what they read but just dont trash them unrelentesly because you dont like them. Slipknot are an amazing band and i guarantee that if Slipknot were not in the mainstream as they are now, you would actually like them

The kids respond better to Slipknot out here because our local metal scene has NO public profile, whereas the European has a far more well-known and talented metal scene. All your average Aussie kid-metaller knows is the mallcore sh**e that comes out of America. Obviously there are exceptions, but in general if you mention a metal band from Europe aside from Cradle Of Filth to the average 'metalkid', you more often than not draw a blank stare. It's all about perspectiive, I suppose....
